TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine Question
Ok, I have like twenty old TurboGrafx-16 HuCards from my childhood
and no system. I'm not even sure how that happened to be honest. Some of you must have owned one of these great, but underloved, consoles. On the weekend I saw a TurboGrafx-16, with the TurboCD, and retarded-rare games such as Y's Books I and II, Legend of Heroes Dragon Slayer and Cosmic Fantasy 2 for like $100.00. on eBay I placed a bid and was winning for a day but I got screwed in the last three minutes by jerks who will just re-sell for profit when everything got to the $300.00+ range. I was willing to pay that but I wasn't there to see the end of the bidding, and I suspect it's hard to beat the professional sellers at that last second bidding stuff at any rate. I was mad. ![]() Now, this other guy's selling a PC-Engine with a dozen Japanese games and I'd like to buy it but I can't remember if you need to modify the thing to play TurboGrafx-16 games or not. I'd love to own a copy of Parodius and non-censored Splatterhouse. He's offered to sell it straight for $100.00 so it's a fairly good deal. Anyone know if I need to mod the PC-Engine? By the way, it looks way cooler than the TurboGrafx-16 and is like one third the size. See for yourself: ![]() Right:TurboGrafx-16 Left:PC-Engine |

Re: TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine Question
You need an adapter to play PC Engine games on the TurboGrafx.
I have the old TurboGrafx with cd rom attachment, but I needed a Japanese 3.0 card to run super cd rom games and also at the time I had a Japanese copy of Fantasy Zone. So I needed to get an adapter which was just genericaly called "TV Game Computer Cartridge Converter", I got an exchange student who was living with me at the time to pick me one up on his trip to Japan. But I have seen some on ebay called "honey bee" or something I can't remember the name right. I know you don't want to do it but you should just cut to the chase and get a turboduo.

Re: TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine Question
Well, screw that then.
That mod chip is almost as much as the system. I might just wait for a TurboDuo. I wanted to play Ys I/II so bad as a kid but the TurboCD was so friggin' expensive. Thanks anyway, SERGE. |

Re: TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine Question
A friend of mine was trying to snag a Turbo Duo a few weeks back as he got a great tax return.
But most of them were heading upwards of 300 bucks US. Even I want to get a turbo duo as a backup in case my current unit ever dies. It was and is one of my favourite gaming machines.
