I'm going to have to keep this one short, as there isnt a lot I can say about him that isn't a spoiler in some way.
Raven is a Vhyore, and is centuries old. His past is extremely tragic, and, to sum some things up about him without spoilers, he was responsible for at the deaths of at least a couple thousand people (a long, long time in the past.) He has since realized the fallacy of his ways, and has repented... but this has not eased the guilt that he feels. Because of this, and some other things I can't really go into, Raven feels that he has a blood debt to humankind.
