    Mario Kart DS

Wow. Only a week away. Better start warming up that drifting finger.

Here's the official product site: http://www.mariokart.com/mkds/launch/index.html

And an interview with the man himself, Hideki Konno, here.

What peaked my excitement was this quote:

Dibs on ROB. See you at the track!

Yep, I'm buying a Red DS bundle with this game. If I cannot get said bundle, I will not buy a DS until I can.

Looks at least interesting. They say there are 30 courses. That makes me very happy. 16 in MKD was just way to few. I do hope there are more than 9 drivers as well.

I guess if I'm going to get a DS for the Final Fantasies I might as well pick this up too.

It's got at least 12 characters, including ROB.

          ...did you just say rob...

AS IN THE ROBOT THAT PLAYED THAT NES PUZZLE GAME WITH YOU????

          *orgasm*

I also hear you can create custom decals. I wonder what ninty fanboys I'll be schooling over wi-fi will say when I have a sony decal on the side of mario's kart. This is going to be awesome.

            Yes, ROB.

Those aren't all the characters, either, it seems.

You aren't limited to specific karts, either. There's a large number of different dealies you can ride with a wide range of specs to suit your playstyle.

Furthermore, players can choose the same character in Download Play Vs. and Online Vs. mode, so no fighting over Wario or Yoshi anymore. You can also modify the colors of your character to differentiate if you wish.

              Re: Mario Kart DS

MKD had I think 20 characters to choose from. Even though you used two characters at the same time, I think that was plenty.
Our goal was to use the full extent of the hardware's capabilities, and I think we've done a good job. If you look at Mario Kart, we've definitely exceeded the N64, I think.
MK64 didn't even have 3D characters; just CG sprites. Advantage: MKDS already.
I was outside of the Shibuya Tsutaya and saw somebody in a Mario suit, dancing around and trying to sell the game. And I saw that most of the people crowded around Mario were young women
              Mario's a lady's man!
If you look at the volume of Mario Kart DS, in every aspect of the game… I think we've done it. We've surpassed Super Mario Kart.
              That's debatable.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Um, that twenty is more than nine. But more pressingly, would you expect this Kanno guy to come out and go, "Well we tried real hard, and it looks really good, but it's not really as good as Super Mario Kart. Sorry guys."

                        Obviously not.

Nonetheless, he appears very confident in MKDS.
