RPG Maker 1 & 2 on YouTube

I've created a new YouTube page. Here, I will post all future videos. This may include non-RPG Maker related videos, like the one of my cat that is there now.

THE SEINFELDINATOR has been posted and can be viewed NOW: Yesterday's Moose

I'm working on a Defenders Of Light (RM1) play through. Now, I have about 1 hour of play and about 3 or more to go. Once editing is complete, and I am satisfied, I will post it and let everyone here know.

    Enjoy!

(I realized there are a few things I have to stop doing while talking / playing through. Seems I spontaneously developed some weird vocal oddities: clicking tongue, saying "so" and "um" a lot more than normal, etc. Most of these I edit out (as fun as that sounds, some a less than a second!), but in future recordings I will be more conscious of this. Probably just me putting on a "play through guy" voice, accidentally.)

By The Way -> My old page (which I cannot access) is here: ShawnDaniels42 (YouTube Channel)

It contains home movies I made, including The Seinfeldinator (with ME!), a Star Trek III Animation, and more!

(Still working on Defenders Of Light (RM1). It will be the entire game, so about 4 or more hours. However, last time my camera cut out during play, so I will have to rerecord part of the game.)

I would totally suggest investing in a capture device of some sort. What I use for my videos is this: http://www.amazon.com/Honestech-VHS-...dp/B0040FT30O/
It's a USB device, and while it's given me some trouble, it's served me well.

You'll also want a few splitters so you can record to the device while still playing on your TV. Also, don't use a USB extension cable with this, because it won't work. If you have to use an extension cable, extend the video/audio cables, instead.

Yeah... I know. Just using what I have now. I used to have a DVD recorder, which would've made things better. Someday, maybe.

BTW - I'm just using my 16mp photo camera, which has a video function. I use it for photography. I'm guessing the capture device would have the input from the PS2 to the device, then to the computer and TV (with splitters), right? And, I would connect a microphone to one of the audio inputs....?

Are you using the microphone on your camera? If so, that's pretty impressive quality. My camera's mic sounds like I'm recording on a casette tape.

And actually, you would have your PS2 going to the splitters, and the splitters would branch off between your computer and TV. In fact, here, I recorded a video a while back showing off my setup:

Yes, just the mic on the camera. One, I eliminated all background noise, and spoke softly-ish.

I just priced some capture devices and might pick one up this week. One used for $10 CAN... although, I'm skeptical since there's no software included. And I sent an email to two other people selling for $40 CAN. Finally, $50 CAN (+ tax) in the store.

Think I need to record them again... I kinda do. (That'll be fun...)

Typically some sort of software is required with this sort of thing. But since it's only $10, you wouldn't lose out on too much money if fail.

Sorry to interrupt, but....Tabloid, f yeah!

I watched it for the first time about 6 months ago, and loved it! It was entertaining and fun the whole way through. Too bad it's just a pilot episode though, I wanted so much more after the ending. Was the story ever expanded on after the pilot episode?

                    Anyways, I loved that movie.

Re: RPG Maker 1 & 2 on YouTube

Sorry for the really late reply.

As to your question, no and yes.

I wrote the script for a college play writing class and never wrote another (follow up / next). Funny thing is that I had no intention of it actually being a play, it was and is meant to be for TV. My teacher, nor the other students were in on this little factoid.

However, I had an outline for the 1st "official" episode and the 3rd. I thought that the pilot could be the 2nd episode, and the 3rd they would investigate a haunted house. The characters would've taken on traits of those in Scooby-Doo.

As for the 1st, it was a concept that I thought could prove interesting. It would be a "flashback" episode of things that (obviously) had yet to happen. Some of these things would never really happen, some would, and others would be somehow different. I'm not entirely sure it would work as a 1st episode, but seems original to me.

Swords & Sorcerers: Chapter One - Start Game

                          "Swords & Sorcerers: Chapter One"
                          (RPG Maker 1 - PSX)

                          Episode 1 of 16 - "Start Game"

Finally I have uploaded a video walk through / LP of one of my very first RPG Maker creations.

The game used much more data than it should have, and had many minor issue, mainly due to the way RM1 works. Not to mention there are still references to... well, you'll see... Intentional mispronunciation helps.

Personally, I still think this game works fairly well. If you plan your battles and item purchases, as well as rest at home a lot, the game will be challenging, yet not overwhelming.

Currently I am reworking it to be another Chapter in the "Defenders Of Light" series. The working title is "Rise Of Mortat", which would actually be more like, "Defenders Of Light: Rise Of Mortat", if that would fit in RM1's limited title characters and "DoL: Rise Of Mortat" looked stupid.

It will have a revamped battles, which do use RM1's built-in battle system. It will involve a little bit more grinding, but you level up rather quick. Battles are mostly NON-RANDOM, but random battles could come into play other Chapters... depending on if they work or not.
