RPG Maker 3 now available for download on PSN!

Thanks to Chuck for the heads-up on this! RPG Maker 3 is now available as a PS2 Classic on the Playstation Network for $9.99. If you don't have the game already, now is a great chance to check it out. We have a very helpful workshop forum where you can get all the help you'll need to make your game.

Are you picking up the software for the first time? Let us know!

UPDATE: Please be aware that this version does not have keyboard support. However, it still has an on-screen keyboard for text entry.

You mean in the PS3 format?

I've noticed a pretty high number of guests today. I wonder if it's from people searching RPG Maker after hearing about this.

The big question in my mind is whether the save files from the disk-based format will be compatible with the download format. If so, I'll probably pick it up to save me a little disk swapping if I ever get back to making/playing RM3 games, otherwise, I'll take a more wait and see approach.

                ^ ... sort of.

Any PS1/PS2 games you play on PS3 save on virtual memory cards, which are PS3 specific files. If you have an old backwards-compatible PS3, any game saves with these files, same as if you download these titles off the PlayStation Network Store.

However, with the right peripherals, you can convert PS3 saves to the normal PS1/PS2 saves and vice versa. It is how we have so many PS3 versions of old RPGM games at the Pav and Mag.

TL;DR: The downloadable version saves with PS3 files.

EDIT: I guess PS2 downloaded games have their own save files. I assume there are ways to convert them anyway.

It's PSN, dude. You should be counting down the hours, not the minutes. It usually updates between 4 pm and 8 pm.

Usually around 3ish for me. Or at least, on the fews days I actually care about something enough to check.

I'm sorry all I could hear was no RPGM1 or 2 on PSN. I guess we'll take any victory we can. I'm amazed one of them reached the store.

In all honesty, RPGM3 was probably the best choice to release first. RPGM2 is way too complicated to introduce PSN to the RPGM series, and anybody who looked at RPGM1 would immediately compare it to the PC Makers and consider it inferior. At least RPGM3 has realistic graphics going for it.

Yeah...scratch that. Also, Nova, I check every Tuesday for new releases and free PS+ stuffs.
