Let's see. The Japanese version of RPG Maker 1 came out one year before we got it. The same with RPG Maker 2. Who says it not to happen again with RPG Maker 3? But I am looking at a late November day for RPG Maker 3.

Re: We could see RPG Maker 3 late this year.
sorry, but no. the japanese version of RPG Maker 1 (RPG Tsukuru 3) came out in 1998. we got it in 2000.
Agetec has made no announcements about a new RPG Maker. and from the talks I've had with them on the matter, they are NOT currently working on one. it takes over a year to localize an RPG Maker.
you won't see an "RPG Maker 3" this year from agetec. I doubt we'll ever see the new RPG Tsukruru in the states.

Re: We could see RPG Maker 3 late this year.
I'd like to believe that although RPG School's following is small here in the states, that wouldn't prevent Agetec from bringing over the next installment in the series (I mean #6, not the current release). Given the life cycle of the PS2, and since I'm a frequent visiter to enterbrain's website and I've not seen heads of tails of RPG School 6, I would expect that the next game will likely be a PS3 release. If this is in deed the case I would assume that since RPG Maker 2 let you create PSone style graphics, the RPG Maker 3 would allow us to create PS2 style graphics. It is unfortunate that they can't seem to make the leap to using the current level of graphic technology. All we can do is hope and wait. Personally, I know I'm no where done using RPG Maker 2, although the idea of a new game is exciting, and I think people should spend more time with the current edition. As of right now there are only a few complete games for RPG Maker 2. I would hope that by the time we see RPG Maker 3 there would at least be a couple dozen complete games. Whatever the outcome I'm sure there's plenty we can still do with RPG Maker 2.Last edited by The Final Rune; 02-15-2005, 12:15 PM.Do you serve with a purpose or purposely serve?

The new RPG Tsukuru certainly looks PS2-quality. Or at least between PS1 and PS2 quality."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

RPGM2 is closer to Sega Saturn's early 3D games.Last edited by Big Rick Cook; 02-16-2005, 02:26 PM."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Um, I hate to point it out to, but RPG Maker 2 isn't a second game, it's the fifth in the series. Plus, if you inlude the PC RPG Makers, and RPG Maker Advance, there are nearly ten (maybe more) RPG Makers out there.Originally posted by Crimson KnightI personally laugh when people make patterns out of less than 2 occurences in video games, like that whole classic Metroid craze on the gamefaqs Metroid Prime 2 board.

Personally, I saw screw the graphics, and add more customizability.
We need to allow the player to make custom tiles, textures, models, monsters, and music, and completely control how the controls are set up, every button, and allowed to set their own parameters for objects such as how fast it could move, various speeds attached, its acceleration, ect, perhaps even how an object or character reacts to hitting a certain texture. Custom gauges as well.
With that kind of variety, it would even be possible to make a racing game on RPGM2 with gear ratios and all.The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Yeah. The US has had ony 2 releases of RPG Maker. I don't see how anyone could make a pattern out of those.Originally posted by RPGProgrammerActually, he was just refering to the US releases.
*smacks The Final Rune for being such a meanie*
And a basic racing game could be done in RPG Maker 2, and you can even have vehicles with their own driving AI. I have to work on seeing if we could use different mechanics to influence driving speed though.Quote of the moment - "When you cut down a tree, don't stand near it."

Hello guys. Don't be sorry. I have bought the new RPG Tsukuru, and I have immediately understood the game mechanics (2 Days!!!!), even if I don't know Japanese! I advise you to buy it. Rpg tsukuru is a magnificent 3D game, which lets you create big fields by just placing small pixels (No experience necessary! The cpu changes your simple heap of pixels into splendid 3d areas). These are the informations I can give you:Originally posted by shawnforbesI saw the Japanese version in the store the other day and thought of picking it up... maybe I will just to check it out.
1)You can create fields, but you can't create towns nor buildings. As for the towns, you can just place objects and buildings.
2)You can create splendid dungeons without difficulty.
3)You can place event characters only in towns, buildings and dungeons. But you can place other types of event everywhere.
4)Every character can use a specific weapon (So, for example, the character you have seen in the videos, can use only swords).
5)You can't create magic effects (you can choose from a database containing about 68 animations and establish the number of targets hit by every effect). Magics are created in the Skill section (or in the Monster section). The Skill section is where you establish HP, MP, etc. of your party members, and their battle graphic.
6)Event characters are created in the same menu in which you create party members.
7)Event characters can have multiple pages. But switches aren' t necessary for activating one of them (there is an appropriate command for this).
8)The other types of events have pages that can be activated with variables. Every character (playable or NPC) has 60 specific variables (there aren' t default variables: so you can' t find variables like member order, etc).
9)Every field, dungeon, town and building has its specific variables.
Sorry for my Italian-English.
