It's gone too long where someone hasn't made a thread for this so I'll begin by introducing what it is for those who had their heads buried in the proverbial internet sand.
Minecraft
What is it?
It's essentially a pure sandbox game right now. Think Legos with killer creeps, randomly generated terrain, a full-on crafting system, minecart rollercoasters, and multiplayer support. Planned updates will introduce new modes of play.
How much does the full game cost?
20 pounds once it's done. 9.95 pounds now during alpha, roughly $15. If you pay now, you get the game forever.
What's new?
http://minecraft.net/boo/
- Underground hell that you teleport to with demon portals!
- Fixed multiplayer issues
- New minerals
- New creeps
- Fishing!
How do I play multiplayer?
The free java client has a basic building sandbox game you can connect to via the website. There was a pavilion server at one point that Crunk hosted.
The alpha version requires that you purchase the game and have the IP of the server you want to join. Here's a list of a few servers for alpha:

Someone here tried hosting their own alpha server. If we want to do that again I'll put the IP address here.
