    OOO LA LA, ARTE D'OBRIGHT~~

I'm not sure why I never posted anything but drawings here at the pavilion, but here is a new painting of mine.

It's not actually finished, but close. I have 2 more coats of paint to put on it. One is black, and already done, and the last one will be silver. I have an artist page on FB where I'm tracking my progress on that painting. It's kind of like an artist blog. Kinda not. But it's got more of my artwork on it than any other place. I've been painting this way for about 15-16 years now. It's a technique I developed in college, while I was taking printmaking and a class called "aqueous media" (very liquid pigments). These paintings are a combination of collograph and aqueous media techniques.

...LOL! It sounds so lofty, but it's not. I just have a hard time explaining myself. Maybe I should just answer questions, if anybody has any.

    YES. OBRIGHT'S Q & A.

Just one Q: is that on stone or canvas (and if it's on paper, how the heck did you get all that texture in there)?

It's really nice; it's got a beautiful sense of flow between warm and cold and I love how clean all of the shapes are.

      That's an interesting looking cow.

      ...

      No, not cow.

      What's that other word???

      ...

      Painting!

      Yeah, painting.

That's an interesting looking cow painting.

Thank you! The base of my paintings is masonite (pressboard), rather than canvas or paper, so that I can have all of that texture going on.

I like that piece- can't wait to see it finished. I enjoy pretty much all of your work, but I'm really fond of "chaos arch" and "the hierophant." Those are awesome.

I love your natural process paintings! I still want to go jump the owner of Paesiphae and the Bull so I can steal it. -_o

Thank you! It's kinda weird to me, but WAY more people have told me that chaos arch was their favorite than any other painting of mine. I mean it's not that I don't like it, it's just surprising to me. And yay, you picked one that nobody else has picked out!

And thank you! Don't tell him I said this, but I would much rather you have that one. He has 2 of my paintings, and he only ever hangs one of them. The other one (Pasiphae), has been in his closet for years.

I want to touch it. It looks like it feels as cool as it looks.

I'm glad you like it, Rodak!

In fact, I was just thinking about you the other day. Another artist contacted me, alerting me to this website. Apparently I had been making analog fractals in my paintings since the early 90's, and didn't realize it!
