What's the deal with the damn intro events >.<

Why can't you do certain things in intro events like display message? I need an intro even for the beginning of my game but I need to have access to all of the event commands, not just most of them.

Or, if you just can't use these in intro events, how do I make a different type of even play immeditately?

All you have to do is have the intro event take over to a regular event. Then
you will have access to all the event commands, including Display Message.

      ^ Ditto

If you want a message displayed at the start of a new dungeon, just have the intro event take over a normal event and then command in the regular event to display a message.

However, I'd recommend changing whatever you need also (and if it is possible in an intro event) in the intro before taking over the regular event. Things such as BGM, background color, etc.

The "chain" of events (intro and regular), will be pretty much instant.

Intro events are simply events that happen as the game loads the next screen, and of course are used to make things happen once the screen finishes loading.

I've gotten it to work ^.^

When I first made this topic yesterday it was before I had made any events, or ever tried to.

Events are REALLY easy to do now... I have most of it figured out, I learned over the course of the day yesterday by basically messing with stuff and using educated guesses. The only downside is that even though I know HOW to do it, doesn't mean I'm good at it Took me 11 hours to get the characters and stuff set up, make 1 map, and do a 20 second cutscene. (But it's an AWESOME 20 second cutscene!)

The game's a comedy, called "Zonko!" Zonko is the name of the main character (yes, that's all I could come up with. Zonko.)

Anyways here's the opening scene: We see a valley, a 3-tile wide path is in the middle. There's a knight in golden armor standing there. Opening 3 is playing.

"We join a lone warrior travelling through Heroo Valley, in the midst of a noble quest. He has been sent from a far-off land by his king. His misson: to kill the Goblin Leader and rescue the king's daughter, Princess Ellina."

          *hero walks a bit*

"Unfortunately, he's not the hero of THIS story!"

          *record stopping noise, music stops*

*?! appears above the knight's head*

*The screen goes red-ish. A ball of lightning shoots down out of the sky, the knight explodes bigtime. Smoke clears*

*camera pans up a bit to the end of the valley*

"This strange, purple haired man with a mowhawk is Zonko, the REAL...erm..."hero" of this story!"

*Hi =D appears above his head*

          *Display custom made title*

that sounds good to me , because at first u think its gay because theres a knight coming to save a princess... but then the knight gets blown to pieces and then ur like "yay", and then it starts to get cool......

Good work, Django. You've got some creative ideas already and event creation justs gets easier and easier to the point that you don't even have to think about how to do things. If you haven't checked out the manual at all, consider looking through Book 2 now that you understand most of the events, there might be some details that you missed or will help you do things faster.

^I already used the manual a lot to find out what some stuff did. Thanks for the advice anyways

Thank you Before anybody can see it though, I need to make my parents make an account on ebay or amazon so I can get a dex drive.

wait....is your game being made on RPGM1 or 2?

If it's RPGM1 (psx), you'll need a dex drive, also found on ebay.

Playstation 2 saves (rpgm2) uses the max drive.

I'd like to point out that this is the RPG Maker 1 tech forum.
