So, I have an ipod touch now.

got a sealed 8GB ipod touch from my neighbor's yard sale for a hell of a deal. it's not the launch model, it has the speaker and volume buttons, meaning it came out in september of 09. but it doesnt have the faster processor or 256MB ram that the current 32 and 64GB models have.

but I paid less than 100 for this, so I don't mind.

what should I put on this thing?

no no no, I don't wanna be one of THOSE people. I don't ever intend to even say "app". I'll say "application" or "game".

I wanted something I could take music and video around on, that I wouldnt be terrified to have stolen like my PSP. So that's a big reason I got the thing.

If you're a fan of nostalgia with a bit more juice, I would suggest adding remixes to several 8 and 16-bite video games.

Thanks, but I fully understand the whole "music goes here" part of it,

I meant more in terms of applications and whatnot.

I think we have the same model. Congrats on getting it for under 100, I wasn't so lucky.

If you get a headset you can use Skype over wifi.

Mine has my entire playlist on it, about 500 songs that take up 5 gigs. I play some games like GeoDefense every now and then, but most of it's passable. The suggestions Alex* said are pretty much standard must-haves.

It just sucks that I have to interface through iTunes all the time.

oh and I like AccuWeather better than Weather Channel. *shrugs*

And another cool thing I found out: if you're going on a roadtrip, you don't need anything fancy. The Maps application can give directions. If you preload all the steps while you're in a wifi spot, you can read them on the go. Just good luck trying to fumble through it while you're on the road.

I think Alex suggested the above, not Alzar.

And obviously my comment above was a joke, Valk.

Re: So, I have an ipod touch now.

It's a good thing that I got this for music and video, because I'm having a hell of a time finding anything that Alex didnt mention that's worth having. every game I've tried has been absolute garbage. sometimes I find a game that may have some promise, but then the controls are ****. and the other applications? uuuugggghhhh.

nevermind that browsing around is f'ing impossible due to the setup of the App Store, AND iTunes on my computer. unless you know the exact name of something, or it came out today, you arent going to find it, because random soundboxes and fart buttons and other assorted trash bury everything.

and yet people (and I mean people, not those things that make up Apple) insist that this is an actual gaming platform.

it's nice for music and video though. and checking twitter/facebook/e-mail while wandering around the house.

considering throwing $2 at that awful mass effect game, just to unlock a few lines of dialog in ME2.

When I first got it, i wanted to use it as an electronic game guide. And there are apps for specific games, but they cost money.

as much as I hate em, if GameFAQs came out with a free app that let you download guides for use when you're not on Wifi, that'd be swell..
