The Smurfs movie

For those who don't know a 3D live-action/CGI adaptation of The Smurfs is in production for release on August 3, 2011. The story has the Smurfs transported to modern-day real world New York pursued by Gargamel.

Which brings me to the point of this post. Pics of Hank Azaria in costume as Gargamel.



The cast also includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Anton Yelchin (Clumsy Smurf), Jonathan Winters (Papa Smurf), Katy Perry (Smurfette), Alan Cumming (Gutsy Smurf), Fred Armisen (Brainy Smurf), George Lopez (Grouchy Smurf), Paul Reubens (Jokey Smurf), John Oliver (Vanity Smurf), Kenan Thompson (Greedy Smurf), B.J. Novak (Baker Smurf), Jeff Foxworthy (Handy Smurf), Wolfgang Puck(Chef Smurf) and Gary Basaraba (Hefty Smurf).

As I think about it more, Hank Azaria would be great as Gargamel.

Paul Reubens would definitely have a good smurf voice, he just needs to make it sound like peewee.

The rest...i dunno. I predict Jeff Foxworthy making at least one "You might be a smurf" joke.

Hellz yes. At least to the cast. I don't know so much about taking a beloved childhood series and turning it into a movie. We all know how that happened last time.

Of course, I loved the live action movies despite the cheese. But still, y'all walkin' on egg shells.
