Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
My only issue with MGS and Zelda is the lack of good fingerstyle tabs. In fact, the Main Theme's the only one I could find for Metal Gear Solid. 0 Tabs for Snake Eater, 1 sub-par tab for Sons of Liberty... My choices are really limited. I'm considering other FFVIII songs right now, too.

Maybe you shouldn't rely on tabs. Maybe you should work to a skill level to where you can pick these things up by ear. Before you ask people to pay money to hear you play guitar tabs.

Oh, I can play things by ear, and I can create my own tabs for things. It's for the sake of convenience that I look for tabs.
When it comes to skill, I hope you realize these songs aren't exactly cakewalks to play. It takes a completely different kind of skill to play these. |

Chrono Cross has numerous great acoustic guitar melodies, also most of the songs have accurate tabs for them.
Somewhat related, if you don't know about this guy already, he has some fantastic covers of mostly RPG music. He's actually been doing Chrono Cross music for awhile. |

Yeah, for the record, most of the songs I'm playing are lonlonjp arrangements.

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU
So after spending like an hour posting a reply my Firefox crashed. ...Right, well, back to business. Ok, here's the deal. I can't decide what to replace Fisherman's Horizon with and I want some opinions. The Castle or Eyes on Me? Or maybe both? Feedback is appreciated. Next on my agenda: Should I add an anime song into the mix? Namely, A Cruel Angel's Thesis? Finally, here's my setlist that I spent the last long while coming up with. Hopefully I can remember all the songs I had. Track 1. Prelude, from Final Fantasy Track 2. Lost Paintings, from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Track 3. Interrupted by Fireworks, from Final Fantasy VII Track 4. Main Theme, from Metal Gear Solid Track 5. The Castle, from Final Fantasy VIII Track 6. Title Theme, from The Legend of Zelda Track 7. Frontier Village Dali, from Final Fantasy IX Track 8. Poem for Everyone's Souls, from Persona 3+4 Track 9. Silence Before the Storm, from Final Fantasy X Track 10. Ocarina Melodies, from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Track 11. Dearly Beloved, from Kingdom Hearts Track 12. Dr. Wily's Stage 1, from Mega Man 2 Track 13. Terra, from Final Fantasy IX Track 14. To Zanarkand, from Final Fantasy X Track 15. Main Theme, from Final Fantasy VII Last edited by Pile of Lizards; 04-26-2010 at 02:35 AM. |

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
I still think it's relying a lot on a lot of tunes that people are already perfectly familiar with and if I counted right, there's about 7 different franchises represented on an album with 15 tracks, with 8 of those tracks being from Final Fantasy.
It just seems like more variety would do you some good. But it's your project! |

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
Hey, there's a reason why I said I'd be leaning towards Final Fantasy tunes in the first post. I fully intended to pick a good number of Final Fantasy songs because I'm the most familiar with them and really enjoy the songs.

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
So after talking to Toasty last night, I've been kicking around the idea of making a second album and leaving the first with a Final Fantasy majority, but I dunno. I'm looking for some input here: what are your feelings on the setlist and the amount of Final Fantasy songs I have listed so far?

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
Ker-bump.
I got my new computer tuesday and got all my recordin' stuff set up earlier today. The project's going to be moving along at a much faster pace. Probably 25 times what it was going at, depending on how much spare time I have. I'm trying to figure out an album title and would love some ideas for that. Oh, and I'm still looking for artists. Den said he'd help, but I'm going to need art for a cover, the disc, and the insert/back/random crap. Any takers? :3 |

Re: My first, unfinished, and untitled album (Deciding songs and looking for an artis
I think this is actually a great idea. If you want to get out into the music industry even something like this is a good start to get out there. I've always wanted to do something like this too, but I don't know if I have the patience and skill required.
For a song suggestion I'd say the Banjo and Kazooie theme song. It's badass on guitar. It's not 100% original, but theres nothing wrong with that. I've even found a few guitar tabs for it. http://www.gametabs.net/nintendo-64/...oie/main-theme ^ Might take some pratice lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KckA1vGfUw ^ This is the best example I can find of what it might sound like. P.S. This is some cover Muse does live I'm not sure its origin but it sounds very video game-ish. Maybe I'm missing the mark and thinking you mean arcade sounding because it appears as if you went more RPG type songs. EDIT: Quote:

Muse, that song above is Popcorn by Perrey-Kingsley. They did a bunch of early electronic synth stuff back in the late 60s.

Alrighty, tiem to update the track listing a bit. I'm going to be adding the Main Theme from Morrowind to the album.
ANYONE GOT ANY FEEDBACK ON THIS EARTH-SHATTERING DECISION? |

Re: An Overdose of Final Fantasy. (Still Looking for Artists and song suggestions)
A bit late, but I only recently got back to the Pavilion...
I think - if you are still updating the track list - that you need a Chocobo Theme Mix! That music was the only unifying theme across all of the early Final Fantasy Games (that, and somebody named Cid) (and probably more that I just missed in my blind obliviousness). And consider a cover of the Tetris Music from the old game boy version. Classic stuff there, and a catchy tune too. Either way, good luck with it! |

Re: An Overdose of Final Fantasy. (Still Looking for Artists and song suggestions)
MY LIFE IS A SPIRALING BLACK PIT OF SORROW AND DESPAIR.
Also, I'm too much of a perfectionist to ever get a recording that meets my standards with what I've got. I don't want to scrap the project, but at the same time a combination of my perfectionism and inability to flawlessly record the tracks I've picked with my set-up is really affecting my morale. What I'm trying to say is I'm starting to consider just not making these publicly available at all. I'm not scrapping the project, but I don't feel these songs are good enough for other people to listen to. |

No rush, make it sound the best you can with what you have to work with.
If you want this to happen you need to be obsessed over it, and not let something like hardware limit you. |
