    I need an artiste. (commissionssssssss)

I'm looking at self-publishing on Lulu.com and have two novels I'm ready to toss up there in the next month or so, but lacking any kind of artistic talent I'd like to commission a design or two for the novels.

One of them will be a more typical fantasy design depicting a certain part of the story, with the title of the novel over the skyline.

The second one I'm less sure of, but it's going to be less concrete and probably a simple title over a more abstract design, just something that looks decent that I can put on a novel that isn't just a single background color and the novel title.

If anyone around here is interested, hit me up in a PM so we can talk shop and discuss your style and how it might fit with my stories versus how much you think you'd like to make. This is a very serious offer that I'd like to put into effect as soon as possible.

I'm interested. What's the timeframe on this? I need to finish my contest game, but that's the only thing really in the works right now.

Ideally I'd like to have the covers done within a month, two at the most. I don't know what kind of timeframe that amounts to for the artists here at the Pav, I'm a noob in the department. If it takes longer to get coordinated and get it all the way through the preliminary design stages and get into the actual production of my cover I'm not gonna be all angry about it. But being that this is a commission and not simply a MAKE FREE ART FOR ME thread I'd like to think I take a little precedence over whatever hobby project(s) you've undertaken that aren't paying you. And I'm basically looking to commission two separate artists, one for each novel so I can have them both ready to go within a reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately I meant to make this topic a month ago to get the ball rolling but I didn't even have a title for one of the novels, and I simply forgot after a while. The novels are basically ready to go, as they've gone through enough edits to drive me absolutely nuts and it's down to the final read/review stage. All that's left in terms of self-publishing these through Lulu is to get a cover for each that I really like.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. I've made a prior commitment to myself (and to a lot of other people), to finish my contest game and submit it. Once I get this damn questionnaire finished and sent out, I can take a break for a bit while I wait for those to return.

Depending on what you want, it might not take that long, but if this situation is untenable to you (which I would understand), then by all means give this commission to someone else.

Are you ever on YIM any more? I guess if I WAS I WOULD KNOW, huh.

In the case of contest submissions, I view that as similar to a paid project. There's a timeline on it and I understand that. I meant more in terms of "if you make a commitment to design a cover for me, I expect it to be handled in a timely manner instead of the very last thing you think about every day after you've spent 8 hours or whatever at a real job or school or both and all the time you spend playing around in your personal time." Your own life commitments take precedence of course, but I don't want this to stretch on for months for a simple cover design because you have 10 minutes of free time each day to spare for my project. I understand the need of downtime and that for most of you this idea would be "extra" on top of a normal routine or schedule, and I'm just saying I want it understood that if a commitment is made I don't want to be harrying you every step of the way because you (being a rhetorical "you") can't get committed for whatever reason.

I feel like an asshole more and more as I keep typing. =\

Edit: I still use Pidgin so yeah, YIM is still active. I just never see you online.

            LOL! I totally understand.

And I also understand what you meant now, and we're on the same page. If I agreed to do this for you, it would indeed take precedence over just about everything other than my daily duties.

              Oi oi.

I'd be interested in helping out however I can, if you're still wanting two separate artists.
