I started a blog on the VB4 forums; being as they're gone, now, and Valk was kind enough to retrieve my first blog entry, I went and put a blog together on my server.
So, here it is (link):
Basically I'll be posting my work as I go through RMXP's default graphics set (called the RTP), modifying, expanding, making it betterer, etc. As time goes on, I'll probably be posting tutorials, hints, tips, etc.
I will also be posting my work on the Kupid project (a keyboard for RPG Maker 1), as well as all my assorted work that pertains to RPG Maker (any RPG Maker).
Granted, RMXP isn't exactly the most popular maker here at the Pav', but I hope that, in time, more people here will become interested in it. (And if they would drop the price down to $30 bucks, or so, I'm sure a lot more people would be willing to take the leap...)
Really, RMXP is remarkably powerful - it's really easy to use for beginners, but when your needs become more advanced, it offers you almost complete customization options. Scripting custom menus, battle systems, gameplay mechanics, you name it, RMXP can do it with the proper investment of time and skill development.
Even just starting out, though, making modifications to the graphics is so easy. You can, pretty quickly, modify the RTP resources to suit your needs with as little as MSPaint (I use Photoshop, but GIMP is a great alternative).
And that's kind of something that I want to show with my blog. You don't have to be a master-spriter to make interesting or unique graphics for RMXP - I can't sprite a human to save my life, but I can alter the RTP, make it more interesting and appealing, and so can you.
Well, I hope some people here will appreciate my work. And, maybe, I might inspire someone to purchase a copy of RMXP and start making their game idea a reality.
