      Re: Afrika

      Wait, what?

This was one of the very first PS3 games shown before the console was even released more than three years ago now, and they are just NOW releasing it in the US with absolutely zero fanfare?

It's been out for quite some time, actually, just not in America. I played a bit of this about a year ago at this smallish video game chain store that opened near me last year called Play n Trade. They carry some imports, and I tried this for myself. Unfortunately, being in Japanese, I was not even able to figure out how to get out of the tent where the game starts.

Alot of people i know have imported the Chinese or Korean versions, since they were all in english. But you are supposed to be a National Geographic photographer taking pictures of African animals. It takes alot of patience to get a great picture, and you can customize your camera in some insane and realistic ways apparently.

          Its something to check out.

its pokemon snap in africa, with fewer actual gameplay elements, and no funny scenarios.

No it isnt Valk, it has more gameplay elements, but no funny scenarios.

It isnt on rails except for early on, but afterwards you pretty much get to roam the entire game world looking for the pictures you want.

If i remember right Pokemon Snap was completely on rails...and i dont really remember the game having much else in the way of gameplay elements.

walking does not give it more gameplay elements.

in snap, you could interact with the pokemon using apples and pester balls. trigger evolutions. bring pokemon out of hiding. open up new paths by doing certain things. hit pokemon in the head with apples or pester balls to get different reactions out of them.

in afrika, all that I've read points to just two gameplay elements. you move. you take pictures. that isnt "more".

I know there is more going on in the game than that. I guess we just need to wait for some reviews to know how deep it is or isnt.

I loved Pokemon Snap so much I bought it for my Wii.

It was also one of the most popular N64 games if I recall.

Which begs to question as to why we never got a sequel.
