    Infinite Summer

...I'm seriously considering doing this. Heard about this book last year when he committed suicide, and have been interested ever since.

I can see 100% that if I do follow through and read this (I need to purchase it first!), it'll probably end up being the best book I've ever read.

Thing is, I was gonna order a copy from Amazon, paperback, signed by the author, a few weeks back for only like $12 or something, and never did. That kinda sucks, because I'm pretty sure it's long gone by now.

Wow, that book looks intense! (which is probably an understatement)

I've already got a David Foster Wallace book on my summer reading list.

Oh wow. Reminds me of Starman.net's Earthbound summer vacation thing.

Using the word "pretentious" is pretentious. :V

I remember Starmen.net used to do a thing just like this where they set up dates for players to get to certain areas in Earthbound. Like,

6/24 - You should be in Twoson by now! Woo hoo! Yayy!
            6/30 - It's Dalaam time!
            etc.

I dunno, I never did it so I dunno what it entailed!

You know what? Maybe I just wanna read a God damn book the way I want to. Even the Earthbound Funktastic Gameplay Summer didn't have so many guidelines.

I've been interested in Wallace ever since I read this ironic commencement speech he gave. Maybe I'll give this book a go.

Once I'm done reading my Bernard Shaw collection.

Read that commencement speech thing on the bus on the way to work. My mom came into work today, and I asked her if she could drive over to Borders and see if they had the book and if she could pick it up for me. They did, and she did, so I'm set to go.

Wish me luck. It starts Sunday.

How do you feel comfortable making such a statement without having read the book?

People write FAQs about lots of things...

They're guides for users to fully comprehend things without having to spend all their time on it. Like RPGs or Web Designing. Or books. I don't see how that inherently diminishes their value and I certainly don't see how that makes them pretentious.

The author didn't write a guide to reading his own book. Fans did...for other fans...

Yes it is. There has been countless topics where you hate on something because you associate it with "hot topic" kids or something of the like. Stop applying stupid labels to things and you might enjoy life more.
