I had a vague idea for a game, probably not going to work on it right now, but I thought I'd post it here and let it develop.
Basically, you play as a colonist of a distant planet, your ship having landed on the planet a few years previously. Now, you live in a nice warm area with weather like the Bahamas, without the hurricanes. And then, quite suddenly, It gets very, very cold, starting with an overnight frost and 40 degree weather - something that has never happened in all the years you've been there. And it stays cold. Some hope the weather will improve. But soon the frost turns to snow and the snow turns to, as a storyteller may put it:
The player has a set number of days to figure out what is going on, and more importantly, what to do about it. Do you try and fix the problem, find a safe place to be, or get your ship working and escape from the planet? There will be no random battles, or most likely no battles at all (everything living on the planet has either froze to death or is too smart too engage the party in suicide attacks). There will be a number of dungeons to explore, and maybe another field, which the player can explore in an attempt to survive. Questions or ideas?

By this time the snow had turned rock-hard, with the result that anyone who didn't have a porch and had given up on shoveling snow found themselves unable to open their own doors.
The snow had now been replaced by what appeared to be rain pouring from the sky. Some thought that the weather was improving, but the anyone who stepped outside could tell a different tale.
As Marshall watched the rain fall, he remarked, "I can't believe it's raining outside. It's so cold the thermameters don't even work."
Beside him, Ryan was examining a glass of the "rain", the amount of which seemed to have shrunk since Marshall looked at it last. "Actually..." Ryan turned and said, with a grave look on his face, "that's liquid CO2".
"What?!"
"That means it's negative 100 degrees out. At most."

. Of course, MAYBE you can 180 on your ideas. I dunno. I'll play it if you finish.
