Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Sengoku is Japanese for Samurai unless you're referring to the Sengoku Period of Japan. If you're referring to the Sengoku Period of Japan then you would be calling it the Warring States Period of Japan.

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Game: Sengoku Basara 3 (in Japan)/Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes (In North America, and Europe)
Release Year: 2010
Gaming System: PS3, Wii (they both came out at the same time)
Places the game was released in: North America, Japan, and Europe
Game Rating: ESRB T (ages 13 and up), CERO B (ages 12 and up), PEGI 16 (ages 16 and up)
Playable Characters: 16
Unique NPCs: 12
Cutscene Only Characters: 3
*NEW* Area Warlords: 6

This game is a very big step for Capcom, and their Sengoku Basara series. You can see major improvements in this game like the graphics are better, the gameplay is better, you can sprint, the skill system has improved, there's a new base system, there's a new ally system, Area Warlords, and multiple endings! BTW, Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes is the English translated version of Sengoku Basara 3. So they're both considered one game. This game is specifically focused on the battle of Sekigahara. Some characters don't appear in the game because they either were killed, left Japan, etc. The characters that don't make an appearance are only mentioned or referenced by the characters that appear in the game. Every character in this game is historical except for Kasuga (she's the only fictional character in this game). Depending on the path a character takes in their story some allies become enemies, some enemies become allies, the story will be altered, certain events will happen, the battle of Sekigahara will be altered, good and bad things will happen, certain characters might live or die, the battle of Sekigahara might never happen, and of course you'll get a different ending. You get a lot of replayability in this game. Every character is forced to go through their Red path on their first playthrough but after that new paths are unlocked for more playthroughs. The way the game begins is that Hideyoshi Toyotomi has conquered most of Japan, and decides to conquer Odawara castle next in order to defeat the Hōjō. He hires the Saika faction runned by Magoichi Saika in order to have a bigger advantage. He sends his army consisting of Yo****sugu Ōtani, Ieyasu Tokugawa, Tadakatsu Honda, Kanbei Kuroda, and Magoichi Saika in a siege battle on Odawara castle. Magoichi, Kanbei, and a group of Saika riflemen get ambushed by Kotarō Fūma and a group of ninja. Magoichi, Kanbei, and the riflemen are able to kill all of the ninjas except for Kotarō Fūma who retreats back inside Odawara castle itself without any injuries. Magoichi, Kanbei, and the riflemen continue with the siege on Odawara castle while on another side of Odawara castle lies Ieyasu Tokugawa, Tadakatsu Honda, Yo****sugu Ōtani, a group of Tokugawa soldiers, and a group of Toyotomi soldiers and riflemen. Ieyasu wants to avoid any bloodshed so he insists that the Hōjō forces surrender and a group of Hōjō soldiers decide to surrender but Yo****sugu orders the Toyotomi riflemen to fire at them. Ieyasu keeps yelling at Yo****sugu to stop the riflemen from killing the Hōjō soldiers but Yo****sugu doesn't listen to him, and Ieyasu watches in horror as the Hōjō soldiers get shot. Tadakatsu just simply looks around probably wondering what to do. All the Hōjō soldiers in that group are dead, and Yo****sugu orders the soldiers to continue with the siege. Ieyasu also orders his soldiers to continue with the siege but to also try to spare as many Hōjō soldiers as they can. Ieyasu then leaves in order to have some alone time to think. On another side of Odawara castle Masamune Date, and Kojūrō Katakura are heading there in order to stop Hideyoshi Toyotomi from conquering Japan. Hideyoshi decides to send Mitsunari Ishida to where Masamune is heading to in order to stop him. Masamune, and Kojūrō arrive in an open field near Odawara castle when Mitsunari arrives with a group of Toyotomi soldiers. Masamune challenges Mitsunari to a fight, and tells Kojūrō that he can join in if things start to get messy but says that the fight with Mitsunari will probably be a piece of cake. Kojūrō gets worried because he's heard that Mitsunari is a very good fighter. Kojūrō ends up joining in the fight when it begins, and gets injured which makes Masamune really worried for him. Masamune gets really angry at Mitsunari for hurting Kojūrō, and ends up losing the fight. Mitsunari leaves with the Toyotomi soldiers to Osaka castle while an injured Masamune, and Kojūrō lie on the open field. Back at where Magoichi, and Kanbei are, Ujimasa Hōjō sees the riflemen outside, and that Yo****sugu has arrived with the Toyotomi soldiers and riflemen to help Magoichi, and Kanbei. Ujimasa orders his soldiers to defend the castle, and has a group of ninja also defend the castle. Magoichi, Yo****sugu, the Saika riflemen, and the Toyotomi soldiers and riflemen hold off the Hōjō soldiers and ninja outside while Kanbei heads inside the castle itself. He sees Ujimasa looking outside when suddenly Ujimasa turns around to see Kanbei so he gets out his spear in a defensive posture. Then Ujimasa calls for Kotarō who appears out of thin air ready to attack Kanbei, and defend Ujimasa if necessary. But Kanbei says that he doesn't want to fight so he allows Ujimasa, and Kotarō to escape. The siege is over with Ujimasa, Kotarō, and half of the Hōjō army escaping alive. Magoichi and the Saika mercenaries decide to head back to their territory while the Toyotomi soldiers wonder where Kanbei is. Kanbei decides to betray Hideyoshi, and conquer Japan for himself but is then caught by Yo****sugu, and the Toyotomi soldiers. Yo****sugu orders some of the soldiers to take him to the mines of Ishigakibaru because there's a prison there. After the Toyotomi soldiers leave with Kanbei, Yo****sugu starts heading back to Osaka castle with his men. Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Hanbei Takenaka were watching the siege from a distance at a little fortress near Odawara castle. Hanbei ends up leaving to his room at Osaka castle when the siege is done. Ieyasu decides to rebel against Hideyoshi because of Hideyoshi wanting to rule Japan with an iron fist. Ieyasu wants to rule Japan through peace, and the bonds of friendship. Ieyasu leads Tadakatsu, and the Tokugawa army to an open battlefield near Osaka castle where Hideyoshi, and Hanbei are at at that time. Hideyoshi gets his army out on the battlefield, and the battle begins between the Toyotomi, and Tokugawa armies. Hanbei is still in his room watching, and listening to the battle outside. Hanbei can't participate in the battle because is really ill. Ieyasu, and Hideyoshi meet each other on a hill face to face, and duel each other 1 on 1. Before they duel Ieyasu tries to convince Hideyoshi to stop with his evil rule but Hideyoshi just says that he won't, and begins the fight. Mitsunari, Yo****sugu, and the group of Toyotimi soldiers and riflemen they had with them arrive during the middle of the battle, and help out the Toyotomi army. Ieyasu ends up killing Hideyoshi, and Mitsunari arrives at the top of the hill to see Hideyoshi dead, and Ieyasu standing next to Hideyoshi's dead body. Mitsunari gets really angry at Ieyasu, and tries to kill him but Ieyasu escapes with Tadakatsu, and the Tokugawa army retreats. Mitsunari is very sad about Hideyoshi's death, and vows to kill Ieyasu. Mitsunari goes to Hanbei to tell him about Hideyoshi's death but then Hanbei dies from his illness when Mitsunari finishes. This devastates Mitsunari, and makes him even more sad. So now we know why the battle of Sekigahara happens (in the Sengoku Basara story). Note: Some of this was either taken from the game itself, the anime based off of this game, Sengoku Basara Judge End (in Japan)/Sengoku Basara End of Judgement (In North America, and Europe), or some mangas based off of this game (I looked up the mangas online). BTW, SB EoJ came out in 2014, and features 12 episodes.

*spoilers*I'm gonna explain why certain characters aren't in the game or why you rarely see them. Mitsuhide Akechi: he's said to have been killed by Hideyoshi Toyotomi at Yamazaki because Hideyoshi knocked him into a ravine but Mitsuhide still lives so he disguised himself, calls himself Tenkai, works under the forces of Hideaki Kobayakawa, and plans on reviving Nobunaga Oda but for what reason. Nagamasa Azai: he was shot by Mitsuhide in order to protect Oichi who could've got shot instead (this was at Anegawa). Kennyo Honganji: he was assassinated by Mitsuhide Akechi at the Honganji temple in which the Oda forces would burn it down when Mitsuhide came out. Yoshimoto Imagawa: he was shot by Nobunaga during the battle at Okehazama. Itsuki: she decides to stop fighting for the common people, and becomes a farmer for the Date army since Masamune Date made a promise to her that he'll bring peace back to Japan. Hisahide Matsunaga: he is still in Japan hiding somewhere, and plotting something evil. Musashi Miyamoto: he decides to stop fighting for now in order to continue with writing his novel. Ranmaru Mori: it is said that he survived the incident at Honno-ji, and is living a peaceful life with Nōhime in a quiet cottage waiting for Nobunaga's return. Nōhime: it is said that she survived the incident at Honno-ji, and is living a peaceful life with Ranmaru Mori in a quiet cottage waiting for Nobunaga's return. Nobunaga Oda: he was barely injured by Mitsuhide, and then killed by the combined forces of Masamune, and Yukimura all at Honno-ji but later on he would be revived by Tenkai. Shingen Takeda: he would end up getting an illness during a battle with the Tokugawa forces at Mikatagahara a little later after Hideyoshi's death at the hands of Ieyasu, and he would entrust the rule of the Takeda forces under Yukimura Sanada until he recovered from his illness. Hanbei Takenaka: he would die from his illness at Osaka castle right after Mitsunari Ishida finishes telling him about Hideyoshi's death. Young Ieyasu: he got older! Hideyoshi Toyotomi: he would get killed by Ieyasu outside Osaka castle. Xavi: he left Japan, headed back to Europe to tell them about successfully spreading the religion of Xavism to 1/3 of Kyushu, decided to spread Xavism in the Asian countries near Europe, and entrusted the Xavist cult that's in Japan to his greatest disciple, Sōrin Ōtomo.*spoilers end here*

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Game: Sengoku Basara Chronicle Heroes
Release Year: 2011
Gaming System: PSP
Places the game was released in: Japan
Game Rating: CERO B (ages 12 and up)
Playable Characters: 32
Unique NPCs: 1
Cutscene Only Characters: 0

The sequel to Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes which also came out on the PSP. Just like the last PSP title, this game has a battle system that handheld players will enjoy (it still retains that hack and slash gameplay/feel). This game adds a special game mode called, Chronicle Mode. Chronicle Mode is a special game mode where you play as either Ieyasu Tokugawa or Mitsunari Ishida as they prepare for the battle of Sekigahara. At the end, you will play through the battle of Sekigahara and decide the fate of Japan. Ieyasu Tokugawa is trying to bring peace to Japan while Mitsunari Ishida is trying to find Ieyasu Tokugawa, and kill him in order to avenge the death of Hideyoshi Toyotomi. This game also features Sengoku Basara Moments! Sengoku Basara Moments are special stages featuring special moments from the series! For example, Masamune Date has a special moment that's from Sengoku Basara which is when Masamune Date invades Nobunaga Oda, and his army a Honno-ji. The game features Sengoku Basara Moments from Sengoku Basara, Sengoku Basara 2, Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, Sengoku Basara X, Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes, and Sengoku Basara 3. Each character has their own set amount of Sengoku Basara Moments to collect. This game has one of the best graphics I've ever seen for a PSP game! They're really good!

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Tonbogiri means “dragonfly”, I think. Or “dragonfly cutter”. The spear got its name because it was so sharp that a dragonfly landed on the blade and was sliced in half.

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

I forgot to say this in an earlier post but I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything on this thread for a whole month but I'm back to posting here so make sure to check out Sengoku Basara Chronicle Heroes which is above this post somewhere (the newest Sengoku Basara came out in 2016 but we'll get to there at some point).

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Game: Sengoku Basara 3 Utage
Release Year: 2011
Gaming System: PS3, Wii (they both came out at the same time)
Places the game was released in: Japan
Game Rating: CERO C (ages 15 and up)
Playable Characters: 31

The second Sengoku Basara expansion game in the series (this time it's for Sengoku Basara 3). It can also be used as a stand alone game. For the first time, Hisahide Matsunaga is playable, and has his own story! The stories this time around don't have multiple endings, and routes. Kojūrō Katakura's, Hisahide Matsunaga's, Sasuke Sarutobi's, and Tenkai's stories are serious stories while Hideaki Kobayakawa's, Yoshiaki Mogami's, Sōrin Ōtomo's, and Muneshige Tachibana's stories are funny stories (Yoshiaki Mogami's, and Muneshige Tachibana's stories seem to be a kind of serious but mostly funny). Kojūrō Katakura's, and Tenkai's stories take place before the events of Sengoku Basara 3/Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes while everyone else's stories takes place during the events of that game.

I usually do these over the weekend when I have no homework or when I finish my homework on a weekday and I have time.

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Game: Sengoku Basara 4
Release Year: 2014
Gaming System: PS3
Places the game was released in: Japan
Game Rating: CERO B (ages 12 and up)
Playable Characters: 32
Unique NPCs: 8
Cutscene Only Characters: 2
Area Warlords: 1
*NEW* Special Characters: 1

Multiple endings, and story routes are back! The Ally system has been replaced by the new Tag Mode system. In previous SB games you would play through different stages. In this game there are 2 types of battles. There are stages (just like how it was in the previous games), and there are showdowns (these are new). Showdowns are basically boss battles, and offer a lot of good weapons as rewards. This is the first SB game to have online features, and DLC. Capcom doesn't update this game anymore, and they haven't added any new DLC since the release of Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi (the next game I'll be doing). I think you can still buy DLC for this game but you won't find any new ones. Every character in this game is historical except for Kasuga, and Oyassan (they're the only fictional characters in this game). There are 3 different routes a character can take (Creation, Drama, Anime). 10 of the playable characters only have a Creation route, 22 of the playable characters have both a Creation route, and Drama route, and 3 of the playable characters have a Creation route, Drama route, and Anime route. The story of the game is that the battle of Sekigahara has ended with Mitsunari Ishida killing Ieyasu Tokugawa, and getting his revenge but then he realizes that this was a very bad decision that he made. He says that he's gone crazy just to get revenge on Ieyasu, his best friend, because he killed Hideyoshi Toyotomi. He can't believe that he went so insane just to kill his best friend so he stabs himself with his katana which kills him. He did this so that he wouldn't harm more people, and to pay for his sins. Masamune Date, and Yukimura Sanada arrive only to notice that Ieyasu, and Mitsunari are dead. They're saddened by this, and decide to finish this off once and for all by having a battle with each other. Meanwhile in an abandoned part of Sekigahara, Yo****eru Ashikaga, and Hisahide Matsunaga are facing off against each other in a battle of light (Yo****eru), and darkness (Hisahide). They both prove to be very powerful but Hisahide is winning over Yo****eru so Yo****eru decides to use something that he's never done before. He resets time back to 0 in order to stop Hisahide from killing him and completing his evil plans. When time got reseted it took Yo****eru back to the time of the Warring States period when Nobunaga Oda was trying to conquer Japan. Hisahide got transported in that time era as well but in a different part of Japan from Yo****eru. Only Yo****eru, and Hisahide know the truth about what's happened to Japan. They're the only ones to call the era that they're in the Sengoku Genesis while everyone else calls it the Warring States period. So basically Yo****eru reseted time back to 0, and caused the Sengoku Genesis which caused a lot of changes to happen to Japan. So now Ieyasu, Mitsunari, Hideyoshi, Hanbei, and Nagamasa are alive again. There's not really a story to the Creation routes. The only kind of story you get in the Creation routes are the Intro cutscene, some talking at the beginning, and the Ending cutscene. The summary of the Creation routes is that all of the armies are on a race to conquer Japan after the beginning of the Sengoku Genesis. The Creation routes are basically your character and their army/the army they serve trying to unify/conquer all of Japan. The battles you go through are random so one playthrough isn't going to be the same as a previous one. It's randomly going to be 5 battles long or 6 battles long. The Drama routes are actual stories, and are either set during the time of Nobunaga Oda's conquest of Japan, Hideyoshi Toyotomi's unification of Japan, or the battle of Sekigahara. Some of the character's Drama routes are 2 stages long while some are 3 stages long. In order to activate a character's Drama route, you need to find a battle that has a blue scroll on the top right corner of the battle picture, and then you choose to fight in that battle. By doing this the character's Drama route will activate. The Anime routes are also actual stories, and are set during the fictional "race to unify/conquer all of Japan" era (the other time periods I mention are historical but the Sengoku Basara games tell a more fictional version of them). Some of the character's Anime routes are 2 stages long while some are 3 stages long. Unlike the other routes that feature an ending cutscene that's CGI, the Anime routes feature an ending cutscene that's anime. In order to activate a character's Anime route, you need to find a battle that has a red scroll on the top right corner of the battle picture, and then you choose to fight in that battle. By doing this the character's Anime route will activate.

Re: All characters in Sengoku Basara games

Its like those commercial breaks, where every time you see one, it shows the same ad for the same series over and over...and the more you see it, the more its counter-productive to what its trying to accomplish...for me seeing it on my New Posts feed anyways lol

I would also consider updating the original post with the same info, or at least links to your posts, so people dont have to filter through 6+ pages of posts to find them all.
