One-Button Party Rotate

One-Button Party Rotate
A script for RPG Maker VX Ace

"When the world keeps spinning round, my world's upside down... and I wouldn't change a thing" ~ Lifehouse

What does this script do?
This script allows the player to rotate Party members with a single button press on the map, rather than needing to visit the "Formation" menu. Which button the player will use to do so is up to you.

How do I use this script?
Paste this script into the "Materials" area of the script editor. This script is plug-and-play, but if you'd like, you can edit the options to your liking:
  • Button is the symbol of the button that you want the player to use to rotate their party while on the map.
  • Max Members is the number of members that will be rotated. For example, if there are 8 members in your party but this option is set to 4, only the first four members will swap places with each other. For most games, you'd want to set this to the maximum active party size.
  • Skip if KO, if set to true, will prevent a KO'ed member from becoming the party leader via a Party Rotate command.
  • Rotate Sound and Disallow Sound allow you to choose which sounds to play when the player does a Party Rotate.

Really? Just one button?
Really. Just one button!

Does it work with Player Followers ("Caterpillar")?
Yes. I should have showed that on the screenshots, but it works fine with Player Followers.

What if there are sometimes fewer party members than the number I set for "Max Members"?
It won't be a problem. The script is designed to handle this scenario gracefully - however many members are in your party will be used in the Rotate.

Why is a KO'ed member still the leader after a battle when I set the "Skip if KO'ed" option to true?
Default VX Ace behavior allows a KO'ed member to be the leader, and right after battle, the player has not used the Party Rotate command. I might update this script in the future to automatically do a Party Rotate after battle if this command is set to 'true' and the leader is KO'ed.
