    Re: Let's Play (With Draygone)

Maybe I'm biased, but I feel like there was way too much going on in these episodes commentary-wise. Episodes 1 and 2 just had two people each, and they kept the conversations relevant, but this time around you have four people with you and the conversations were all over the place.

That's actually something I've been wondering. The next two episodes had more people than these one, and I thought maybe six people (including me) commentating on the same game was too much. I'll ask around and see if I should restrict how many people I should include in these videos.

You should have at most two additional people, but really two total is the sweet spot. You get second thoughts and opinions without having too many people vying for mic time, and you don't distract from the point of an LP, which is of course to showcase the game.

Yeah...I have to agree. 5-6 people commenting on a game is way too many. The game totally got lost underneath all the banter, in my opinion. It was about the conversation, not the game. The game just happened to be going on in the background at a party or something.

I'm starting to watch these now . Kind of entertaining to see a game of me getting played. keep up the good work!

BUT i do have to agree, the third and forth episodes are kind of hard to concentrate on game-wise. Id be happy to do commentary video if you want but i don't want the audience to lose focus like i felt in those.

Ah, I remember that Lokimon arc. That was flawlessly done, it just kept getting better and better. I know I've said it before, but SMQ was just great.

I didn't think the multi-person format was as annoying as everyone else here did, maybe because I've played the game before. The girl, I didn't catch her name, had some particularly funny and insightful comments.

I'd recommend having people read out the lines like you used to do, in order to keep both your team's focus, and the audience's focus, primarily on the game.

Nah, I'll definately put a limit on how many folks can join me at a time. Like I said, the next two episodes have already been recorded, so there's no helping them. But after that, I'll do better.

That said, focus is a big issue when people are joining me. But I'm not sure how to fix that. Having them read dialogue is one idea, but that won't help when there's no dialogue onscreen.

Personally I enjoy it when people just spitball about stuff in Let's Plays, as long as they're not distracting the audience from something important happening onscreen.

I wish there were alternate audio tracks, like in DVD commentaries.

Well? I mean I DO like to hear the banter, and sometimes it IS amusing, but to me, in a let's play...EVERYTHING happening onscreen is important. I'm not saying that you can't ever go off topic, but when Dray does LP's by himself, he just kinda runs around for a while until he's finished with his thought, which I think works out pretty great. That doesn't happen so much when there are lots of commenters.

That said, everyone involved is working hard to provide a valuable service to the community, and I for one am very grateful for that. I hope I didn't come off as otherwise.

[EDIT] Also...somehow Ryner never pictured me as a Norse god, but somehow he DID picture me as a chicken?

INSIGHT POWERS GO GIRL(tm). It was fun commentating in the past two videos(you know I love just being able to hop in, cause then I don't have to worry about stuff on my end), but I'll gladly step out for people. Though I won't be reading parts like a play. I stopped doing it in my own stuff. It just gets grating, and I find myself stopping watching most of those kinds of videos, especially when a guy feels like he has to do falsetto female character voices.:P But it did feel a little crowded.

Seriously, game has been entertaining so far. And Dray does all the legwork for the battles(hurray). I think I've punished myself enough already way back when previewing unbalanced RPGM1 games. I still have the goblin and slime RPGM1 sprites haunting my dreams. And that eternal *KER-THUNK* 4 damage and miss noises.
Not that this game is unbalanced or anything, but I like having someone just play through it anyways to see story.

But yeah. I don't think having that many people was actually expected. I think a lot of people were just around at the time? No clue.

Sorry, camp comedy kinda eludes me.

Well, over at the Mag, I have a topic that schedules two sessions for joining me in this let's play. That has a large part in the group trying to join me.

What would you do if you were given a device that would let you transport yourself into someone's mind? Or if you had a magic pencil that caused your drawings to come to life? I'll tell you this: one of these items isn't as cool as it sounds.

Also, Navane is banned from my let's plays until he can get a mic that doesn't sound like he's speaking through a toilet paper tube. =P

Chibi Wrestler was one of my favorite things in those past episodes.

...I also feel the need to dig up my copy of Magic Pengel. I haven't played it in forever.

It's really embarrassing to see typos and bugs while you're playing through this, especially since I test-played the hell out of this game.
