    Oh. OH.

    Wow, man. 10/10.

Okay, sorry. From my perspective, 2010 will have a hard time measuring up to last year. Yeah, you've got Mario Galaxy 2....sequel....more of the same. You've got Red Dead Redemption...transplant the old west into a sandbox. Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver...two more Pokemon games. Phoenix Wright...another Phoenix Wright game. I can go on.

So, yeah, there are highly-rated, critically-acclaimed games that are a lot of fun to play, but I've not seen anything legitimately NEW this year. Bayonetta is not NEW, but it's as close as we've come so far this year to a game trying something a bit different.

Yeah, it's a DMC clone, yadda yadda, but it instills a sense of fun and sexiness instead of an overload of brooding testosterone.

You can bring up the fact that I'm really looking forward to Etrian Odyssey III, which, yes, is probably more of the same with a few different play mechanics.

But for me, the only game that looks legitimately NEW is Child of Eden, and even that seems to be a spiritual successor to Rez.

Maybe I'm basing my above, "off year" comment on personal bias, but there really have not been too many games this year that have really wow'ed me. And moreso, there's been nothing this year so far like Flower at the front of the year, and Demon's Souls near the end of the year. So, yeah, personal bias to an extent again, as these are my number two and number three game of all time, but more to the point, both tried to do something significantly different than what is out there, and both succeeded admirably.

Ask me this same question later this year, and my, "off year" comment might change, as I've yet to play NMH2 and Sin and Punishment 2.

I haven't played anything from 2010 aside from Pokemon HeartGold, to be honest.

Other than playing the StarCraft II beta, Stargate Resistance wins by default.

            Dragon Age: Origins is mine.

This game is okay so far, from what I've played. I can't say I agree with IGN's score on the 360 version (9.5). I would say a 7, though. It still doesn't beat DMC3, in my opinion.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International... oh ho ho I couldn't keep a straight face while typing that.

It is kind of difficult for me to pick a favorite. So far my favorites have been Bayonetta, Assassin's Creed 2, God of War 3, and MGS Peace Walker. Hmm... I got it.

              1. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
              2. Bayonetta
              3. Assassin's Creed 2
              4. God of War 3

Okay, maybe it wasn't so difficult. :3

That came out last year though I thought.

It did. The game did have an expansion pack this year, but it was nothing to write home about.

They never do. But no "rules" were applied. The topic title implies what one's favorite game is this year, not specifically whether or not it was released that year.

But yeah, it was released at November, last year. It's still my game this year.

No seriously, I honestly can't think of any game for this year. And wasn't MGS4 released in 2008?

Re: Your favorite vidya so far in 2010

I'd actually now have to say White Knight Chronicles. It's like they made a GOOD Phantasy Star Online for the PS3, and added a TON of depth. Character-building is decent, but the ways in which to acquire gear (via the town you build and what jobs you choose to have people do there, among other things) is outrageously addicting. Aside from the actually pretty decent single-player, there's just so much going on that you can focus on at any given time. Online questing, building your village (which other people can visit, get and puchase items from, and which serves as the starting point for multiplayer), building better gear...I'm not building up money quickly enough to upgrade everything I want.

I know I was dismissive of this in the other thread before, but if anyone misses PSO, and enjoys a gear-based setup, and has a PS3, they should give this a try.

EDIT: Aside from the semi real-time combat, this is everything Phantasy Star Universe SHOULD have been.

                            3) Heavy Rain, only game I've played and beaten in one sitting (and it's not like it's short)
                            2) Mass Effect 2, I've never loved talking to NPCs and my party so much omg
                            1) Red Dead Redemption, everything about this game was perfect to me: soundtrack, storyline, characters, voice-acting, dialogue, gunplay. one of the best games I've ever played and definitely the best ending I've ever seen.

                              In no particular order:

                              Deadly Premonition
                              Red Dead Redemption

Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

Deadly Premontion! Defintally the best game I have played. Granted I just got my copy of Fatal Frame 4 and haven't played it yet.
