    Re: Ugly

Okay, here it is. The color didn't show up as vibrant as the real thing, but I got it as close as I can.

I think next time I should use a picture of a raccoon and a picture of a roman warrior for visual reference. Bleh, I suck at helmets and armor.

I do like the sunset, even though it's rather busy. Perhaps you may want to start simpler and work with fewer colors?

Dude! If you're going to use colored pencils, here's rule #1: get out a white colored pencil or one with a lighter version of the same hue and burnish!

Yes. Sanford makes a colorless blender expressly for that purpose.
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

Simpler? How so? I only used 10 colors. And again, I only got 12 colored pencils. I haven't worked with shading yet, either. Most of my art is colorless, some grey added in, or flat-shaded like what's above. This is the second time I've added scenery, and the fourth time I added color.

Don't have a white colored pencil. Actually, I could never figure out the purpose of those things on a white sheet of paper.

They're for lightening and burnishing, as Ryu said.
See, when you try to shade lightly with a colored pencil, the application will be uneven; the color settles into grooves in the paper's texture.

The purpose of buffing over with blender is to evenly disperse the color without altering the hue by adding a second coat.

When I use colored pencils I press as hard as I can to get every bit of color out of them as I can. I can end up using a quarter of all my pencils on one drawing.

The end result is nice and glossy looking, with nice full colors and no faded paper look.

It's like that series of novels I liked when I was a kid but not anymore.

What? I'm a big fan of anthro art.

You shouldn't come into a topic just to rag on Dray's interests, what if people disagreed with your boobie girls?

Ugh, don't remind me. I've seen the type of anthro art some people make.
