    Need for a Character FAQ?

Right, I get to be one of the silly newbies to prolly ask this question, but I was personally working on a character FAQ that listed all the diffrent 3D and 2D characters, their colors/styles, and any movements in or out of battle. Origionally I was making this list for myself as a quick referance, but I'd like to know if this guide would be useful outside of my own personal use.

For a basic overview, I would be discribing all the movements each 3D model made in battle (for those who apply) and also(eventually) will be adding discriptions for each of their NPC emotions. As I'm going on, I suppose my basic question is if there will be a need for this guide, and where should I post it if there is?

I'm sure there are people who would find that useful, if you do it, the ideal place for it would be the submissions forum under "tutorials". it would then be added to the main site.

That guide would be very helpful considering RPGM3's interface does not make it easy to test all that stuff.

I shall do what I can. It may take a while, because I want to make sure I have fairly good discriptions that anyone can use. If I had a screen capture option, I would just make a tutorial with that.. But who knows.. I shall complete it as soon as I can!

A while ago Agetec said they were going to make some kind of PDF file for this very thing.

I have been thinking about doing pretty much what you suggested, but just don't seem to be able to make the time.

However, I can take decent screenshots.

If you like, perhaps I can do a pile a week until done and contribute in that way.

Has Agetec done anything in this department? Would it be a duplication of effort?
            Etc?

            Peace.

That would be excellent! Whatever you can give will be awesome. I have the first few colorations of the females done already, but I am working on it as much as I can. If you like, you can e-mail it to me at librainred@gmail.com. Just put something like RPGM3 Screenshots or something.. I will prolly build up an HTML site based off it. Thank you so much.

THis FAQ might be good for people that haven't bought the game like myself so they can get an idea of when they do get the game.

^.^ Thank you. I may be changing the subject a bit, but if you want to create an RPG, have the idea to do it, but don't mind the limitations, then this RPG is definately for you. I like it because it is almost point and click (fricken variables!) and I'm lazy, so it's good. If you like to have a wide varity of options, and don't mind the little sprites, get RPG Maker 2. Mostly because there is also a guide.

But the FAQ is fast on it's start, and hopefully I'll have a full site avalible...eventually.

Re: Need for a Character FAQ?

I'll get the first set of shots done this weekend.

I'm still curious about the whole "duplication of effort" thing though... it would be a shame to do all that work (izzalotta screen shots) if it is being done officially at Agetec.

I'll post here and let you know when it's done.

                    Peace.

Heee...I feel so popular right now. Thank you to everyone. I'll keep a definate eye on this thread. If anyone wants to give some input on the formating of the FAQ, please let me know!

I will warn people ahead of time that this will take some time to stockpile. I do have some time to do this, but not as much as I like, and I am learning how to use RPGM3 while I write it. (gaddanged variables!)

Thanks again for all the support!

Re: Need for a Character FAQ?

OK, I was unsure on which format to use for the visuals.

I thought the editor shots were boring. But they show the 2-D options.

Here are the first two characters in all 4 color versions and shown in both styles of presentation. The chicken is in there to keep the camera low and because he's cool.

Both styles have advantages. In the "full body shots" you can get two versions in one shot, but it is more work. The editor shots waste a lot of space, but are quick and easy and show the portraits.

I don't want to waste time creating a database of one style only to find you wished the other.

Let me know which you like and I'll make a batch.

I have offered a "Screenshot Service" to all members who wish to promote their games, so it is only fitting I do this to promote the maker itself as well.

I think we need one for the VFX Editor in RPGM2 next...

I'll hold off making more shots until I hear back from you.

                            Peace.

                            EDIT:
                            <><><>

I just noticed you wanted all the 2D stuff as well...

Would you be willing to open all the shots with an art program and crop them down if sent as above? Otherwise you'd have a lot of waste (duplication of 3D models and useless Editor images).

Another option is to set up a demo where everybody speaks and get shots of all the 2D stuff that way... but that is even more time consuming than placing the characters for the full sized shots.

                            Oy...

                            <><><><>
                            EDIT AGAIN:
                            <><><><>

I just remembered the Storyteller (Duh...).

That would make for better 2D screenshots and be pretty fast as well.

So... I suggest placed people for full body shots and storyteller style 2D shots.

                            You Decide... It's your baby!

                            Peace.

                            LAST EDIT< REALLY!!:
                            <><><>><><><><>

Here is the first set of Storyteller 2D shots. They are in order as presented in the game (Anime, Pop Art, Drawn 1 - 5).

This is way too many images for a single post.

If I am out of line here moderators or administrators PLEASE either edit it down yourself or ask me to do so.

                            But...

I was getting ready to do one for that, actually. Since they for some reason didn't include them in the strategy guide, I was going to write down a list describing what they look like with maybe drawn pictures of important variations (since some of the VFX look quite different depending on how they're animated). Especially important when you want to use VFX as scenery, such as the lightning one perhaps acting as a forcefielded door.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
