Re: RPG Maker 3 now available for download on PSN!

Just wanted to point out that it's not compatible with the disk version as instead of using the virtual memory cards, it uses its own save file. Guess it looks like any content for this new version will have to be created from scratch. I'm guessing that its save file should be shareable. (copy to USB stick & upload to wherever)

Yeah, but the files can be converted. It's a pain in the ass to do, but it's possible. there's a link to the method in the topic in RPGM General.

To go a little deeper into this, the PSN version uses some kind of custom 17MB save file, separate from the virtual memory cards you copy converted PSV files into. I tested it against one of my virtual memory cards and it bypassed it completely. So far it looks like it saves in a completely new format.

Unless it doesn't save in the standard PS2 Classics VME format, this conversion method should work.

Does it come with any bonus content? Like new models or events?

No, it's just a downloadable version of RPG Maker 3. Good for people who don't have it yet, or ended up with a PS3 that can't play PS2 discs.

Sounds cool. I like that stuff is actually still share-able, I half expected it to just be like... make your game thanks for the $10. Thanks for the conversion method Valk- I might try that out with a couple games later.

No keyboard support means I'll be sticking to be my PS2 copy. *sigh*
