    Dex Drive help please!

So, at long last, ive purchased a Serial-to-USB adapter, dug out the old dex drive, hooked it up and....

    "Dex Drive not found!
Please check weather DexDrive is connected to a Com Port Properly"

Ive Reconnected it multiple times in different Usb slots...

Im 90% sure the USB adapter is working, well, because the computer says so.

Ive searched all over for solutions and Im just coming up short.

Im primarily using my PS3 for RPGM1, and i realize i can save in PSV format, but i dont want to be cut off from all the GME format games.

Also, Ive Photoshoped a new title screen for Esper Quest using RPGC, and i need to find a way to get it from .GME to my PS3, to import into the game (title Screen).

I am suspecting that perhaps the DexDrive wants Com ports 1,2,3 or 4, but non of my USBs connect to those....

any tips? im on Windows Vista...

I know Valk and some others of you have used this USB/Dexdive method...maybe i need a better adapter?

    thanks!

    Re: Dex Drive help please!

    Dex Drives are assholes.

The Dexplorer software is really, really stupid. The "Dex Drive Not Found!" message is horribly common, even with the hardware connected properly. It's entirely possible to use the dexplorer software properly to move files to a memory card, accidentally close the program, and open it back up to "Dex Drive Not Found!".

    It's horrible.

    Try this: http://www.neillcorlett.com/dexter/
It's an alternative bit of software for the Dex Drive. I've found it works much better, and is much more reliable. It even works on my Windows 7 64bit system, which the actual Dexplorer software won't do.

If it still gives you trouble, it's likely due to the dex drive itself being a piece of **** as well. here's some troubleshooting methods-
Disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter and serial cable, and connect them in different orders (serial port first then pluggin in power, and plugging in power then serial port). Try connecting it before you turn your system on, and before you turn your system on.
