With the power outage, you can imagine that a lot of things like traffic/transit came to a standstill. I couldn't move anywhere if I wanted to.

Although, once I got to the lobby, the group of about half a dozen moms with infants said the Shoppers Drug Mart at the end of the street was still open and on back up power.. but the 5 minute walk in that heat seemed unbearable.

It's boiling in mine and Karr's apartment right now.. the A/C unit is only strong enough for one room.. so why he sleeps in the bedroom, I am sweating it out in the living. Whew!

That's insane.

I don't know how it's in English Canada , but in Quebec teacher teach us only the metric' system . Meter , Kilometer etc ....

After we finish school , SURPRISE , we must work with the imperial' system . Why they teach us metric' system ?

In fact , I don't know how many oz contain in a cup .

Back in The Old Days, we were taught both, and how to convert between them, as part of "Science" class in Elementary School, more in Chemistry and Physics classes in Junior High and High School, and by College it was expected that you knew the conversions well enough that only a quick review was needed.

It's sad how far the standards have dropped.

But speaking of the heat...

The highways reopened quickly - they just made some poor souls go fix the roads!!

ANYBODY who pours hot asphalt on a day like that deserves Hazard Pay!!

The Bridge took longer - apparently the bits where the drawbridge open were so bad that the joins were pointing up just enough to puncture tires! That was reopened yesterday, but not to all lanes of traffic.

I think you answered your own question.

The really crappy thing about the weather is that's it's been mostly overcast the last few days. So when it's really cloudy at night, all that heat doesn't radiate out into space. That makes it less pleasant. Things cooled down a bit today, so that was good.

Yup.

They say 108 degrees today, and I have no Air Conditioner!!
