Well, what's something you've always wanted to do since you were a kid, but haven't had the money/confidence/motivation to go through with? I just went to a talk called, "How to achieve your childhood dreams". It was given by a 40-year-old professor who was diagnosed with cancer and has three months to live. As you can guess, his speech was pretty insightful.

Particularly after that talk, it seems like there's all kinds of things you'd be better off spending your time and money on besides a 360 or Wii. I've heard you say more than once that you don't really do too much besides watch TV and play video games. If you want to do more, it seems like a birthday is a pretty good time to have a resolution.

And Czechs gives the best response this thread has seen yet. I even gave him rep for it, albeit the rep was really for his new sig, which I first noticed in the above post.

Very good advice. I just can't seem to think of anything good. I figure getting a game system is better than nothing. Sort of. I tried to think of something more meaningful but it's all like whatever. I can't remember being passionate or excited about anything even as a kid. Just things I used to be interested in but lost that interest over time.

          http://www.43things.com/

That's a site where people list 43 things they want to do in their life. Go there and browse around, and see what looks appealing. Sometimes seeing other people's goals can be extremely motivating.

Edit: I just saw this question posed on that site: "What would you do if you knew you could not fail?" Maybe that will help you come up with something.

              Buy a bike.

              Or a guitar.

Maybe a nice pair of slacks?

I'll be buying clothes but that's pretty much a necessity so that's a seperate issue from getting myself a birthday present.

Re: What should I get myself?

I haven't bought clothes in over 4 years. I still wear the same ones I've had since the early 2000s. Never outgrew them, and took sufficient care of them that they aren't too raggedy.

Whenever I need new ones, back to the thrift stores I go.

You can get by very cheaply in regard to clothes if you're not too picky.

If you're going to spend the money, get something that you know you will enjoy and not get bored with for a long, long time.

I'd recommend a hunting rifle or a shotgun. And if you have no use for that, a switchblade kit.

I also don't spend much on clothes. I don't go to thrift stores often but when I buy clothes its always clearance rack at a discount store. More expensive than thrift stores but a ton cheaper than the prices some people pay for clothes. And I also wear everything until it's fallen apart or just won't fit anymore but I just need some more clothes. Mainly more pants. I'd have plenty of shirts if my mother didn't keep borrowing them and then I never see them again.
