RPGM3 Legacy of Duke (Not final Title)

I was working on the game when I was still Red_Dragon56 then I took a break from RPGM3 because a whole mass of ideas where exploding in my head. So now I am getting further into the game and would like to know what people in the Pav think of it.

The game is based around special summoning cards known as yeah you guessed it "Summoning Cards." The story is kinda flimsy so I am going to give it my best shot. You start out taking a test from an old man known as the "Battlemaster" after you input your name and answer the questions, you obtain different stats depending on your answers, some are easier to understand than others. The Battlemaster then gives you a blood test, he looks into the vial and the container turns blue. The Battlemaster gives you a speech about how special you are and how you are different than other Card Summoners.

Basically he tells you that, although you cannot summon large creatures, you can however summon small ones, but you can fight alongside them. Giving you a larger advantage. But you cannot summon large creatures, only smaller ones.

As you unlock cards there is a place back home where you can say what 2 cards are in your party and who are not. Once I finish my game, you will see how it all works.

Back to the story, after you get your first card in your party you have the option of battling in the gladiator matches. This requres a small stratagy but it is easy once you figure formations and such out. After the battle the Battlemaster tells you to go to a dungeon near town, there may be somthing you want there. He also tells you to get "Equipment cards" (swords and such) and stay at the inn to rest up.

In the dungeon there is a teleporter, and that's it. If you enter the teleporter you will end up in a part of the dungeon with a few monsters in your path. With no means of escape. As you reach the end you will be able to choose what cards you want to obtain. Depending on your character you might want different things. After that you go back to the place you started, the teleporter now will say you have to reach another level to use it again.

The only thing to do now is fight more gladiator battles. Of course it seems that you aren't getting any experience from all these battles. Only after certain events you will be able to choose how you level up. I have some ideas but I am quite sure how I am going to go along with that. Most likely after an event you will have to talk with somone to have them level you up or somthing.

You soon will end up in your 3rd battle, and be crushed. You wake up in a hospital in an unknown world the nurse greets you and tells you where you are and the situation. You will have to travel across the desert to get to a large, dark, tower. To get back home.

That's about all I have so far. As I said the story is a little on the flimsy side. I tried to make the gameplay more entertaining than a regular RPG because I like the concepts of no 2 games are the same.

EDIT: There are going to be 31 or more different creatures you can have in your party. I've made 31 of them but I may put in special secret card also.

Duel Masters.... Sorry, it just sounds alot like the generic card battle game. Red Dragon you can do better than that! Make it stand out from the crowd of card battle games. I believe in you, so try for something big.

      A couple things:

First off, are you sure you can have those monsters with you? Animal characters can fight with you, but not monsters themselves. You are aware of this, right?

Second, it'd be far more practical to input your arena name then real name (otherwise you'll be refered to as "summoner" the whole time, and that would be annoying.)

Third off, try getting exotic sounding titles for the summoner related people: I mean, why be a battlemaster when you can be a Garadath?

I'd rather be a battlemaster than a *gasp* garadath!

And I'd rather be Psychotic Head Slasher than battlemaster. Battlemaster is kind of an obvious name, no offense. You can do much better, Red Dragon.

First off, the names are not set in stone, not even the title. I may change them later on. Battlemaster was supposed to be a name of the person who announces the battles and educates Card Summoners. Thus, Master of Battles, thus Battlemaster.

First off, are you sure you can have those monsters with you? Animal characters can fight with you, but not monsters themselves. You are aware of this, right?
Yes, I ment Animals. I have created all 31 of the different Animals already anyhow.

Make it stand out from the crowd of card battle games. I believe in you, so try for something big.
Other than the fact that I use cards as a medium it really isn't like any card game at all. I coulda made Magic Lamps and you wouldn't even tell the difference. Cards just worked out.

Other than the boring names, what else can you say about the game?

Oh and FYI What I wrote has already been made. Just wanted you to know in case you thought it was a concept.

Well, this might be out of date, but I linked to this from the contest forum, and while the intermediate story clearly needs more direction, I really like some of the stuff you've got here. It's a bit "chosen one" -ish, but in a fairly cool way; I for one have a high tolerance for that sort of cliche, at least.

You said "weapons/armor cards" and I thought "oh. just another way of saying you should buy some generic weapons and armor" but then I kind of started to think that maybe there's a way you could build "decks" of those that would take place through events before a battle, and really affect that battle. I can explain some more if you want; right now the idea isn't even completely corporeal in my head, anyhow.

Anyhow, I'd like to know if you've still got the data from this project, and have interest in continuing it. It's something I'd like to see get to completion, personally, and I'll give you whatever ideas I can, if ya want 'em.

I was hoping someone would be able to confirm or deny that, because it would really be a crying shame if he did. I know he said he erased it, but then he mentioned something about "these 2 files" as backup... do we know what became of those (or what they were)?

Re: RPGM3 Legacy of Duke (Not final Title)

I thought this thread died a long time ago.

I don't know where my ARMAX disk is, so I can't test to see if either of those files are this game or not, if you(meaning anyone on the pav) have a little bit of time I would appreciate it if you could see what they are.

Everyone here hated the idea, and the project was very big. If I was the only one to play it, it wouldn't have been any fun to make.

I'm now making a RPGM2 game, another huge project though. But I think more people will enjoy it once I get a good layer of skin on and realease a demo.
