Re: Net Neutrality = Gone by 2012
That's nothing. Governments around the world expect a 70%+ reduction in the world population by 2012.

Re: Net Neutrality = Gone by 2012
Ok, did somthing new develop here or are they guessing the date? I can't see any proof or anything saying it's going to be 2012?
Ya it concerns me as a website developer student, but I don't have tons and tons of money, thus I can't do anything...

My isp could charge $1000 a month if they wanted to.
Sure they would lose a lot of people but they still could.
Not like there is any competition around here...Last edited by Red Dragon; 06-01-2008, 11:23 PM.

Re: Net Neutrality = Gone by 2012
excuse me, Karr.
This WILL happen if that's your approach to it. "eh, it won't happen" solves nothing. get angry, do something about it. write letters, make phone calls, raise awareness.
Even now the internet is becoming more restricted. Comcast is limiting some of their internet packages to a mere 2GB of transfer a month. for CABLE internet.Last edited by Valkysas; 06-01-2008, 11:24 PM.

Re: Net Neutrality = Gone by 2012
it wont happen, at least not like this.
society tends to accept change it cannot see. a bilatent switch is too much for even a collective group of internet providers to implement. the opposition would be far too strong and hard.
this is however a likely result if trends keep going with smaller restrictions. a change like that is more likely though it wouldnt happen by 2012.
a site like this is very suspect, and i strongly doubt its legitimacy in stating any truth, especially when they provide "concrete" dates. the large conspiracy campaigns do not interest me, im not so easily gullible to believe that any company would undertake a very stupid and self destructive initiative when they could easily achieve the same beneficial results by continuing as they are now.

I want to tear my door off the hinges and hit you with it.

seriously, how sheltered and ignorant can you be? This is all pretty high-profile stuff. its not in the mainstream media because the mainstream media is SUPPORTING getting rid of net neutrality because it gives them complete control of everything.Last edited by Valkysas; 06-01-2008, 11:49 PM.

Re: Net Neutrality = Gone by 2012
i get that reaction a lot. its probably just as well considering im in the home improvement business.
people are scared that it could be true. that is the only reason why a rumor like this has spread as rapidly as it has. realistically its so unlikely as to be laughable. mainstream media is more likely to hide something like this however not every respectable news place will and i know most would give their right arm to drop a sensational story like this for some free ratings - of course providing it where a legitimate story or had even a single thread of reality.
no dice. the year 2012 will go by and i will still be surfing un molested. i would be profoundly ignorant to believe any article that touted information as fact, when all rationality dictated that such an occurrence would be nothing less then suicidal insanity.Last edited by Karr Lord of Chaos; 06-02-2008, 12:01 AM.

Nah, to tell the truth it just means that I will have to pay more for the already overpriced isp.Originally posted by simple man View PostI could see americas downfall if that happened
It will, however, be the end of small internet businesses. Which, depending on how you view it, can be a good or bad thing.
