    Re: 1 2 or 3

    No Scythes?
    Nooooooo!

On a serious note that really sucks that most of my ideas cant be done with RPGM3...

If it wasn't for the graphics I might not even consider it.

Usually I dont consider Graphics a major part of my buying experience, but i really like the mapping system and how the characters look more real then 1 or 2...

    Even More Questions:

Has anyone made a really nice game with RPGM3? I understand it is very limiting but it sounds almost too limiting.

In your opinion which is better if you want to make a lengthy RPG? 2 or 3?

Can you set Battle Conditions? ie every 10 turns monsters gain 10 HP.

Whats the max party size in 2 & 3?

Can you have huge swords in 2 or 3? (I.E. Soul Calibur III's Nightmare)

How many Dragon monsters are in 2 or 3?

        Re: 1 2 or 3

Crimson Knight oversimplified the "how many objects part" as well as some of things for the rpgmaker 3

RPG maker 3 is divided into "loads zones" (in a sense)

        There is the world map
        A Town
A Dungeons floor (you can have 20 and each one is a different load)
        A Building

The world map allows 20 events and 30 decorative items
The Town allows for 10 characters 20 events and 30 decorative items
a dungeon allows for five characters 20 events and 10 decorative items
a building allows for 10 characters 20 events and 30 decorative items

You can have a total of 3000 events
        and a sum total of 3000 items/buildings/characters/dungeons/fields/monsters

So technically you can have a total of 6000 things!!

(Decorative objects is 90,000 as far as the total you can have, technically if you had 3000 buildings you could have 90k Decorative objects...of course no one would have 3000 buildings but u get the point I was making...you can have many....total that is..)
        -----------------------------------------------------------------------
While there aren't facial expressions per say there are animations and certain ones do have facial expressions (However, to use them properly takes alot of work and you gotta write down what they do so you remember it)

And I don't mean the player animation that only refers to treasure chests
I am refering to action while talking and if you set up the character correctly and the actions are appropriate and set up events to help activate and string different modes you can animate the character quite nicely

(Disclaimer: This takes a long time to do)
        ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you make the screen dim or lit?
The screen can flash up to 20 consecutive times in one event (colors)white/black/red/blue/aqua/yellow/green/pink at the speeds slow normal or fast
You can shake the screen for up to 99.99 seconds in one event
You can also do the warp/encounter screen effect
However you can use fade out/fade in effect in storyteller mode & mono it

2.Is it possible to make an invisible character in order to make camera movements? Like have an opacity of 0 and make him walk around, since you have a camera behind him it looks like a camera is moving by itself.
While this was answered, I should mention also that there is no way to move ANYBODY through game commands, aside from warping the player to a different spot. 2 of course, you can move more than one person at the same time if you wanted to.
In 2, you can have over 100 objects I believe.
Try 100. There are over 200 possible objects to begin with. Though there isn't much reason to create the same object more than once, since recoloring just puts a shade of color on the already-colored model.
6.If i want a monster to show up outside of battle (like you see him in the distance) is it possible to have that happen?
Again, already answered, but to be more specific, you can't have enemy models outside the battle system in RPGM2, but it provides several monster lookalike characters for that purpose. And if none of them suited your need, one could always place shadows wandering around to represent monsters.
In your opinion which is better if you want to make a lengthy RPG? 2 or 3?
Both could be created for a lengthy RPG. But, you'll be able to have more stuff happen along the way with RPGM2.
Can you set Battle Conditions? ie every 10 turns monsters gain 10 HP.
Nope. You're given choices as to how a monster will act in battle (i.e. defensive, healing, offensive, magic only, etc.).
Whats the max party size in 2 & 3?
By default, 4. One could create a battle system in 2 where battle parties could be up to 5 or more, though I think 4 is enough personally.
Can you have huge swords in 2 or 3? (I.E. Soul Calibur III's Nightmare)
RPGM2, you could have a sword 10 stories high if you wanted. RPGM3, there's a long sword option, but it's nothing super-big like Nightmare's or Cloud's.

            Yay more questions.

            RPGM3
            *********
I think this was answered but can you have events where NPC's move toward you (or in some direction)? ie in RPGM1 you can have an invisable touch event where after your char touches it and it triggers an event where the NPC moves toward you then speaks to you.

On rpgmmag.com they showed a lot of different male characters, but the only Robe wearing one was a guy with a guy that wants to be Gandalf. Is this the only robe wearing male character in the game?

Can I have more than 2 large monsters in a battle at one time?

Can I have a event where i can choose my party members?

Is the 100 Character Limit really constraining?

Can you set skills to monsters?

Are there any videos i may be able to download that will give me a better idea about what this game looks like when played?

            thank you!

              Answers.

Nope, there is no movement command at all.

I can't remember for certain, but I think there might be one other. On the plus side, that "Gandalf" character has a monster counterpart, so one could use him alongside a monster.
Can I have more than 2 large monsters in a battle at one time?
No, but it is possible to have two large monsters accompanied by one or two small monsters. Giant monsters seem to take up the whole grid, though.
Can I have a event where i can choose my party members?
There isn't an option like that by default, but it is very much possible to make one.
Is the 100 Character Limit really constraining?
Yes. That limit includes party members AND townsfolk (except shopkeepers). And you can't use any townsfolk in more than one place (though you can have more than one townsperson who looks the same). So, if you wanted 10 towns, that means you'll be restricted to having around 9 people in each town.
Can you set skills to monsters?
              Yes.

Just click on the Watch It Now button for each one. You'll have to endure a commercial before each one, and they're a little grainy, but at least it's free.

                Thanks alot for the info.

Are their switches in RPGM2 or 3? If not is there anything that acts like them?

                  Re: 1 2 or 3

Switches are in RPGM2, but both RPGM2 and RPGM3 have variables, which are way more useful when you want the game to check more than just if something is or isn't. Variables let you check if something is, isn't, 20, 42, -194, etc. (Though RPGM3 doesn't go into negatives.)
