          GASP! SHOCK!! ALARM!!!

...It's a damn shame we'll never meet any life on that planet. We'll all be dead by the time the human race makes contact, i.e. Tries to boot the aliens off the planet to steal all the recourses

We still keep finding life in places on this planet where we thought it couldn't exist.

The problem with detecting terrestrial exosolar planets by means of calculating the gravitational wobble of their parent stars is that they need to be unusually close to that star considering the relative small size of their gravity wells (as compared to gas giants). While in this case having a much cooler parent star (a red dwarf) means that the habitable zone will also be closer, you have the downside of the planet being so close that it's tidally locked (like Mercury is to the Sun, or the Moon to Earth).

I wonder what wind patterns would be like if one half of the planet is perpetually insolated, and the other isn't.

Also, I think time zones would take on an entirely new meaning. They would be parts of the planet where it would remain the same time of day always, and you can only progress through the day by moving east or west.

United Nations Appointing Ambassador to Alien Worlds

A friend told me about the UN appointing an Ambassador of Alien Contact today. I looked into it a little bit online and it seems like bull****. But either way, hearing both the weird stories today has got me looking up at the sky. Weird.

No, all that means is that the grays and lizard people that have been secretly controlling the New World Order from within the shadows of the UN are finally done with their preliminary steps for world conquest and are ready to make their domination public. This is nothing more than a feeble attempt to ready the citizens of this planet for their eventual role as slave labor and food for our new alien overlords.

Too bad NASA fired like 1200 people yesterday.

That might prove to be somewhat of a setback regarding the whole "Space Exploration" thing

They've found several planets in the Gliese 581 system already, some of which are believed to be rocky, or terrestiral planets. That does make it one of the top potential candidates for extra-terrestrial life outside the solar system, along with the Epsilon Eridani system. It helps that both are relatively close, Epislon Eridani is about 10 light-years away and Gliese 581 about 20 l.y. I'm sure both will looked at rather closely when we launch the James Webb space telescope.
