I can't read it yet. I'm still playing through the Essential Collection. But 6 months from now I'll comment and you'll be all like: Who the ****'s this guy?

So, y'know, something to look forward to.

So, I JUST finished MGS4 and read your conversation to cap it off. Even later than promised!

My experience ran more in line with Magus' than Mora's. Act 3's cold-war spy thriller feel was completely awesome until the rebel's AI ****ed it all up. I was shooting down helicopters with an RPG to facilitate our sneaking without drawing too much attention. And then he wears a bike helmet and the guards are like, "So?" Ugh. So much atmosphere just ****** away. Eva made it all worth it though.

Like you, my forearm was killing me at the microwave sequence, and once was enough for me on the final fisticuffs. I had a little trouble with Rex v. Ray, but once I figured out the controls and spacing, I just sorta applied the same strategy for that end fight.

The controls: Hummm, mixed bag here. It was much more intuitive than anything in the past, but in the service of poor strategy. I never had moments like I did in MGS1 where I was livid with frustration, but it seemed like every boss fight was...fiddle around until you find the strategy that makes this fight completely broken and dumb. L.Octopus->stand on a box; C.Wolf->hide under a tank, no need to move; R.Raven->hide under staircase... the exception being the Mantis fight. I had fun there and it felt pretty loose, but not like I was being railroaded. Probably my least favorite fight was Vamp's. I've always hated the CQC segments in the series and this was no exception. I was glad the final showdown wasn't a duplication of MGS1's still-not-dead sequence with Liquid.

Have either of your opinions changed now that it's had some time to age and settle?

Edit: Also, sneaking onto the boat, took me two tries. One time I was just farting around, getting the lay of the land. The next day I sneaked through the entire area without being seen, except as I went through the last door by lurking Gekko. My weapon of choice was the Tranq pistol, although the Tranq Sniper Rifle was pretty awesome too. The M4 did all my heavy lifting though.

So you're a fish out of water...
            Keep swimming.
            What else can you do?

My opinion on the game's cooled a bit. Playing through MGS3 again recently... it's ****in' insane how much of a better game it is than 4.

                And most games. |:3
