    Re: Jury Duty

I now I might be late in saying this, but I think the best way to snore VERY loudly. Oh, wait, this is abut jury duty! *slaps self on the head*

I think getting the way to play god with other people's lives would be kinda fun. Unless the other people in the Jury have the rare and uncurable disease known as "Moral Values".

No one ever said anything about taking people away from classes. Jury Duty may or may not happen at the same time a class is scheduled. Besides, most College students have to do some kind of internship to graduate and that would be a great internship for a Criminal Justice student.

Well, they let me postpone it. They have me scheduled for June now, so I have plenty of time to come up with an excuse to get out of it then too.

Are you serious? You're going to bring up civil liberties in a topic about you shirking your civil responsibilities. That's horrible.

Still, if they bring back the draft, I'm ditching this nation the instant my name is listed.

Again, my only responsibilities are to my family. These so called "civil responsibilities" are making a hardship for my family.

You're values are not mine. I don't see how anyone in their right mind would agree that my so called "civil responsibilities" would come before my family. The $12.50 they would give me for service wouldn't be close to what I make in a day at work, and wouldn't even be enough to buy diapers. Jury Duty would also take me off of work for the entire shift or close to it (I'm the only IT Technician for the ENTIRE company, which means production may end up at a stand still due to my abscence. If you ever worked with GM, you'd know how angry that would make them).

So if your values mean less for your family, hardships for everyone else at work, and allowing yourself to be forced into something you don't believe in, then I am EXTREMELY happy and PROUD I'm not teaching my child your immoral values.

I don't care for the current state of the country. I'm hopeful that the next president will make things better. I'm trying my best to stay neutral about the presidential candidates, but I don't like any of them so far. I'm hoping that I'll be proven wrong on that.

I agree we have it better than other countries, but in my opinion that's not really saying much. Again, I'm trying to stay neutral, or even positive that the next presidential cycle will be better. Here's hoping!

Me and my family are packing if that happens too, but as current affairs are, I don't see that happening. I think that article you posted was from 2005, (correct me if I'm wrong) and I don't think it went any further. (Again, correct me if I'm wrong).

Theres been numerous times the draft has been talked about being put into effect, there is also a certain way they draft people, if you do get drafted, it wont be until you hit 20, then they go up from there, and if youre in college, youre even less likely to be drafted.

Im 25, the odds of me being drafted are next to nothing, because all the 20-24 year olds wouldve put their life on the line before me, and the war would probably be over before all of them are dead.

My heart goes out to all the brave young ones that are out fighting our current meaningless war. I'd give anything to have all those kids back home where they belong safe and sound with their families. I really hope that its over soon!!!

About the draft, talking about it and them taking action are two different things. Has there been any action, or has it been all talk? I've been trying to find news articles on CNN.com but it seems articles about the draft are buried. What was the latest development?

                          wah wah wah cry more.

its your civic duty to serve on a jury. you want to complain about your rights being violated, and at the same time refuse to uphold your side of the contract that you implicitly enter by living under the us government? what?

if the government called on me to serve my civic duty, i would put it ahead of myself. why? because it is my duty, my responsibility, and it is something that i agree to do when i choose to live in this country. i like having a justice system where i can be tried by a jury of my peers. i actually enjoy the freedoms that i have in this country that i live in, and i understand that in enjoying my freedoms, in enjoying my country i know that i have to give myself to its collective will ie following its laws and having to serve my country should it request it.

seriously, what you are doing is like having someone keep doing you favors under the implicit condition that should he need a favor of you, you would do it, and then when he comes around to ask you something you complain and ***** and moan and cry. grow up and learn how to function without being a selfish prick.

youre not the only one who has jury duty interfere with their life. grit your teeth and buckle down like everyone else, or leave the country.

I dont think its a subject anymore, I heard theyre supposed to be cutting down the number of people over there, but we've all heard that before.

There isn't a font large enough to accurately portray how little I care about anything you said, so I'll just type it in caps:

                              I DON'T CARE.

you should just act like you're taking notes for a book.

it worked on the Fresh Prince.
