Dude, the ending is exactly what I was talking about. I don't think a game has broken the fourth wall more blatantly, even touchingly, and I loved it.

But I hate it when games have epilogue sequences that don't add to the story. I did kill the supercow, though.

    Only one cow left.

Is it technically breaking the forth wall or just incorprating you into being a part of the game itself? Anyways, I see your point, but I don't equate breaking the forth wall to being the spiritual successor to Earthbound. There's so much more to the Mother series than just that which Contact failed to do.

I don't know, I think I was just bummed that it ended so suddenly that I'm being overly critical about this.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

        Tales of the Abyss

"Luke, you suck." "Why doesn't anyone listen to me? I'm in charge!" "Luke, you suck." "You're a good guy Luke." "Screw the rest of you, I'm doing what the only person who's nice to me is telling me to do!" "Luke, you really suck! How could you blindly follow the one person who has been nice to you and not listen to all the people who continually make fun of you and tell you that you suck!" "Luke, you really suck now!" "Maybe you're not so bad, Luke."

Digital Devil Saga is really fun and a nice mix of SMT and FF sensibilities, but I absolutely hate time-sensitive sidequests.

              Robotrek.

Nothing beats an RPG where you can build Robots and customize them with all sorts of gadgetry and weapons. I also liked how you can make stuff from scraps using all sorts of combinations. It's fun, it's humorous and it's definately a classic.

              Brainlord.

Although the game itself was short, it was one of those unique RPGs back in the day. There are a lot of tricky puzzles in it. Some of them are almost mathematical. One puzzle stumped me for weeks. Seriously. I still own it for my Super NES and I love it.

Final Fantasy XII. Been leisurely making my way through the Sandsea for the last two hours. Racking up kill chains and not saving and such.

And then Vossler attacked the Salamand Entite.

                Why would he do that.

Misty, I too enjoyed Robotrek but in the end the game just wasn't balanced enough for me. I remember just randomly running into enemies that would either attack for max damage or take one damage from an ax. Oh and you wanted to actually damage a boss? Forget THAT.

                  Why would he do that.

If you cast magic anywhere near an Elemental or Entite, it turns from a neutral enemy to an aggressive one, and that’s why Vossler probably targeted it.

                      Game: Transformers
                      Platform: Famicom

                      Talk about it:
Find the nearest toilet and lick the inside of the bowl. That's what this game is like.
                      Eat Smello.

                        Chrono Trigger:

Game that started my interest in RPGs. Kept thinking about HUGE frogs that would land on the whole screen. Or having Chrono jump high in the air, catch Marle's Ice spell on his sword and bring it down... WHAM!! You have a dead enemy.

What about that game wasn't awesome? Maybe the fact that it ended. Oh and I could never get the "Someone close to you is in trouble, find that person fast!" box to dissapear. Even tough I'm sure it had to do with Marle's event.

This game proved that robots had feelings, that evil wizards could just be misunderstood, that inside your still human even if you have green skin and eat flies. It proves that silent red headed spikey haired dudes are cool and that princesses will always fall for them. It proved that some games, really are just timeless.

                          Chrono Trigger is awesome.

                          Guardian Legend

I never owned it officially, but I borrowed it from my friend numerous times since back when I owned an NES, I didn't have a lot of money to buy games frequently like I do now. It was an interesting hybrid of shooter and action RPG. You're a female robot that can transform into a jet. I like the labyrnthine levels of the adventure mode. I appeal for this game to be on the VC. I'd download it in a heartbeat.

                          Super Baseball Simulator 2000

I'm not a sports gamer, but this charming little Super NES baseball game was the only baseball game I enjoyed and was pretty good at. You can edit your own teams and do all this crazy stuff like throw magical pitches. It was totally off-the-wall. Playing solo was fun, but playing with my friends was even better!

                          Demon's Crest

Any game that let you play the Gargoyle from Ghosts and Goblins wins my vote. (It inspired my brief name change to Red Arremer.) Crazy boss levels, awesome level design, and an RPG element thrown in--another great game I want on the VC.

                              Vandalhearts.

What made me get a PS1? This game. Ok... actually it was Square's FF7 announcement. But Vandalhearts made me want to get the PS1 right away. Of course, it doesn't really measure up to Final Fantasy Tactics ((by it's own right, a fantastic game to own.)) But it was the first of it's genre and it was fun to play.

The game had a decent storyline and a bittersweet ending. But it's simplistic A.I. could made playing the game extremely easy. Saving after every turn? Good idea... no one can possibly die.

Vandalhearts was a great beginning game for PS1, but Konami also had a sister game out for the Ps1 at that time that was just as fun...

I just returned it to Blockbuster after having it for 2 weeks. After about a dozen tries I never got past the first scripted battle with the two giants. Yeah, I suck.
