    Re: You like old movies?!

If it's being sold from Hong Kong, has multiple languages on the packaging, has chinese audio/subtitles, is region free, or looks too good to be true, it's more than likely a bootleg.

I've yet to see The French Connection.

Another badass Gene Hackman flick is The Conversation.

Gene Hackman is the bomb, baby.

I loved the French Connection when I saw it as a kid. I'll get the DVD in the future.....SO LONG AS IT ISN'T PIRATED

          Re: You like old movies?!

I've bought some bootleg DVDs of TV series that haven't and probably never will be released on DVD. Well, one had the first 4 eps released edited into a feature. But without the other 22 episodes of the one season that was made what would be the point?

And judging from your post javier I also have a bootleg copy of Slider season 1&2. I thought it was just a Korean (or wherever it shipped from) region free copy. I got duped.

A friend of mine got some Saiyuki DVDs in which people would yell "Magical Goog!" and people would call each other "vapid" and "prolix". We got a dictionary because we had never heard half the words they used, and we made a game by counting how many times they were said. It was good fun.

As for old movies, one of my favorite movies of all time is Thoroughly Modern Millie, a Julie Andrews movie from the 1960s. It's a really fun musical.

I also enjoy The Sound of Music. Shut up.

I wound up buying a bootleg copy of all 65 episodes of Rescue Rangers a while back. Sadly, it's not much worse than the official sets.

As for old movies... Nope, can't think of any. I can only recall two movies I've seen that were made pre-80s. Batman: The Movie (Adam West), and one movie involving a guy running from this muderous truck driver (which may be more recent than I think). And actually, I've never seen all of the second one. Only've seen middle portions.

I was arguing with Dave about Blade Runner. I need a copy of that on DVD. I also want to find a copy of "Whatever happened to Baby Jane" because that's a pretty ****ed up old movie.

BBLALRRAGH What's there to argue about?!

There's a non-crappy DVD finally out (the case is a regular, plastic case and not that cardboard ******** Warner Bros. used to put out) but it's really bare-bones. Early next year however, the super-duper 3-disc special edition bonanza version of Blade Runner will be about, complete with a NEW director's cut!

                  ZOMG

DAMN I forgot about Blade Runner! They filmed that in Los Angeles where I live. Wasn't Sting in that one? As a bad guy? He was a bad, bad dude.

Okay. I guess I'll wait for that.

We were talking about it and Dave said it wasn't that great. Then we discussed how much of an influence it had on other films and video games/anime. We decided that we needed to watch it again, and Dave mentioned he hadn't seen the old "director's cut."

                      FUN TIMES IN THE BOX!!!

Goemon, you said you had a regionless player, but you were confused when CD Japan said that the official release was Region 2?

                          Re: You like old movies?!

Yeah, it said Region 2 (Japan, Europe, Middle East and South Africa only).

I assumed those particular locations are for those regions only. I wasn't sure how well that would work on a regionless DVD player.

EDIT: Oh wait, never mind. I figured it out. I have a regionless DVD player, so it's supposed to play all DVDs from those particular regions....or something like that. I'm going to put an order on that CD Japan website for the REAL Macross DYRL sometime this week.

                                I know ;_;

However, seeing how I've always wanted DYRL, that's a sacrifice that I have to accept.
