    A Problem With Party Members

I have this NPC in my game who joins your party if you talk to him. However, when he DOES join he is named New Char, has default stats, and won't actually appear IN your party.

I already had his graphic, stats, and name set up but he just shows up as New Char. The event command that adds him as a party member is in the page.

    Any idea what's causing this?

Those things you mentioned are among the things saved in the game progress file, whether on test-play or full-play. Changing those stats in the editor won't change them in the save file. So when you're creating a game on RPGM1, you'll either want to have all the characters ready before you start test-playing, or you'll want to get used to re-starting the test play when you add or change a character.

this is also true of any system changes you might do. all chars must be built and set or they wont show.

I started a new save to see if the problem was fixed, unfortunately it was not. Maybe it has something to do with the System cards?

          OH. GOD. THAT'S RIGHT.

characters are tied to the save. your save lists all characters you have and don't have. if the character isnt on the first system card, they'll never be recognized.

jup. this is one of the many problems i am facing with my game (becides udder lazyness). characters have to be fully built in every way else when they start a new game anything changed will not show up.

for a very long game this is a bit of a hurtle. its difficult to plan so far ahead for spells and what may be a complication many levels down the road.

Really? I remember changing stats around at the very end of playtesting because I had to "zero in" on the right stat gains. Plus, to check all the events working properly, I usually playtested with maxed chars.

Is the no way around this at all? Was I just fooling myself about being able to edit stats after creating the game? ...ouch

Maybe your characters were statted so much by that point, you didn't notice that nothing changed. Or maybe you just zeroed in on enemy stats, which can be changed mid-progress.

play testing you will notice stat changes but if you reload you save with the adjustments youll notice that nothing stat wise on your char will change but the enemy states will. i will run some more tests on sys data swaps as i need the intel myself. its a pain in the ass no mater how you see it.
