    RPGM2 Prima Guide=Nigh Useless????

Ok, so I got the RPGM2 strategy guide yesterday (finally) and after reading through it, it seems as though most of the info is actually the same exact stuff that's covered in the in-game help.

There's a few helpful things, especially along the lines of traits, in/direct effects, and some helpful info on texturing dungeons, but other than that, it's all stuff I already knew. I guess it was only 10 bucks I spent on it, and in the even that I get amnesia, I'll have some things right in front of me to help me get restarted hahaha

What are some of your opinions on this?

I mainly use it for the index in the back.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

I'm almost releaved that I didn't get it then. You know what would have been awesome? If RPGM1 would have had a strategy guide that was just like the manual the game came with.

      *runs and hides*
      ------------
Guan Yu: "Is your lord Cao Cao still alive?"

Xiahou Dun: "He says he can't die until you do!"
      ------------

Yeah, just like Draygone said, the index in the strategy guide is mostly the difference. However, that index is awesome and is so helpful! It really makes game creation go faster. I'm not sure if this is also in the instruction manual, but the strategy guide briefly explains the functions of direct effects, flags, and variables. This is helpful when you have something in mind but are not sure how to do it. One more thing, the map tips in the strategy guide are also helpful. Other than that, yeah it is pretty much the same information...

For me it was very useful initially, because it walked me through the beginning steps necessary for learning the menu's and format of the software and familiarizing myself with everything. After learning these things though, It becomes pretty useless aside from the index.

Learning the menu's and button's was pretty challenging at first because there are so many different button functions, etc. The guide did exactly what it was intended to do for a beginner like I was at the time. It was much clearer to understand than the in game menu was.

              It's INVALUABLE!

I use it constantly when making a game. It was the reason I made my VFX Editor Guide because having every graphic available for easy reference is Absolutely Essential for creating.

I don't think those calling it worthless really know how to use it. It's not meant to teach the game, just to be an aid in using it. And as such, it Excels.

Look elsewhere if you want to learn the fine points of the game, but don't sell this gem short!

              MOO!

I thought it was useful because my game didn't come with the manual and I didn't really understand some of the things the in game help said. I would have never found out how to make flat floors in the Map Editor without it.
