    HELP, HELP!

I have a problem.. I have several game ideas and don't know what to make. Here are my options:

    1) a survival/horror RPG in which you battle zombies, mummies, skeletons, and other undead/demonic badies. Throughout the game, the main character has to rescue people in dungeons/towns overun by zombies, and those peopole becdome party members.

    2) an adventure game in which the main character talks to NPCs and uses/receives treasure items that have to be used in specific areas (think a point-and-click game without all the pointing and clicking), and the only battles happen as bossfight-style brawls in which the main character must fight or die.

    3) a god has left the heavens and is walking the world, watching humantiy and preventing evil from taking over. He is bound by divine oath not to harm any living being, so he recruits humans to fight for him. He has the following stats:
    Level: 99
    Basehp:1
    hp:0
    mp:0
    STR:0
    DEF:999
    MAG:999
    MDF:999
    AGI:999
    LUCK:45
As you can see, he's completely useless for attacking, but he's immune to damage, physical or magical. he has no mp, but all his spells cost 0 mp, and they are:
Cure- heals 999 hp for 1 character
    Life- fully revives all characters
    Poisona- heals poison
Soft- heals stop (In the game, the "stop" effect is called "Petrify")
HIs race is "Almighty", and since all the oher characters will be "human", All the monsters will have the "Attack humans first" Battle Action type, or, if such a BAT doesn't exist, the god will be all the way in the back of the party, while the humans are all in the front row.
Spoiler Alert: Before the final battle, the god has a complete class and costume change. His new form's stats are:
    Level: 99
    Basehp:99999
    hp:0
mp:999 (but it will be drained to zero. see below for reasons)
    STR:0
    DEF:495
    MAG:999
    MDF:396
    AGI:593
    LUCK:45
The god gets these new additional abilities:
charge- gain 50mp. costs 0 mp.
armageddon- deals 999 points of damage to hp and mp, with the additional effect of instant death. costs 999 mp.
During a cutscene, the god loses 999 mp, and the other party members forget all their offensive skills and spells. The party battles a final boss character with the following stats:
    level:99
    Basehp:900
    hp:1
    mp:999
    STR:999
    DEF:495
    MAG:999
    MDF:0
    AGI:999
    LUCK:40
The final boss has the following spells:
    Charge- gain 50mp. costs mp
Forget- drains an opponent of 35mp. costs 0 mp.
Blazes- hits all opponents for 666 damage. costs 500 mp.
healing wind- heals 999 hp. costs 1 mp.
Hades- hits 1 opponent for 500 damage, with the additional effect of poison. coste 10 mp.
So, it's up to the god to charge up his mp to max and hit the final boss with the most powerful attack in the game.

    4) a combination of 2 or all 3 of these ideas. Please give me some help deciding.

    Re: HELP, HELP!

OK, my quick opinions (and I'm assuming you want to do any of the games with RM3)...

    1) Survival/Horror RPG: I've seen a lot of proof that this kind of stuff can be done on RM3, and, if your aesthetic sense is good enough, done very well. While it's not my style of game, it's probably the one I'd recommend going for.

    2) Adventure game: It can be done well with RM3, but it's easy to have it become boring, and more importantly, you need to be a really great writer. From what you've posted on the forum, I don't think you could quite pull it off.

    3) Benevolent God RPG: Well, this seems like a very cool idea, but I doubt you've tried actually doing it, because, in practice, there's a moderate amount of variability in each spell's results in battle in RM3, as well as enemy behavior. You could MOSTLY get around this by tweaking the stats in a more holistic manner, and setting enemy INT to 100, but you'll still be in for a lot more frustration than you expect.

I strongly suggest playing around with the system a lot more before presenting specific stat ideas or gameplay tricks. Make sure they work in practice, not just in theory.

I liked number 1 the most. It sounds like a very fun game to make and could be made somehow no matter what Maker you are using. You could perhaps make a system where you can switch out party members and the ones you aren't using stay in the safe house or whatever you call it.

        Re: HELP, HELP!

I tried to make a similar game like the one you described in option 1. The problem I ran into was creative ways to save people. Then there was the whole flood of zombies idea with random battles, but you can have random battles in a town and you cant place individual buildings on the field map either. So I filed the idea away into the "communisim" folder, (thats a good idea, bad execution term I use. No offense to communists of course).
Now I'm working on a court room drama game believe it or not.
but to the original issue, the second idea sounds good, But what happens if the "all powerful bad guy shows up" and uses his own party to undermine your parties do-gooding?

I like number 1. I'm making a game that fits into that catagory for the contest and I have to say it's one of the funnest games I've worked on. I would say you should try for it. Your aproch sounds a lot different from mine and I would love to see how other people atempt this kind of game.
