    Re: Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

I too must have this game. I am getting so tired of 3D realistic graphics. I kind of want something that takes me back to the SNES and GENESIS days.

I'll probably get it. It looks like a SNES style RPG, so I'll probably enjoy it.

                  Re: Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

Got it. About 4 hours in... starting to get better. Not sure exactly how I feel yet. But here's the DL.

Gameplay-wise, it feels like a mix between these games. Which is a good thing.

                  Dark Cloud 2
                  Wild Arms SERIES
                  Growlanser SERIES

The graphics? They're a mix of Legend of Mana & SaGa Frontier II. Nothing fantastic, but refreashing (if you're tired of PS2-era realism). The music? It's meh.

No wow factor yet, but I'm sure it'll only get better (as it has been). Item Creation actually feels natural, unlike that convulted Star Ocean. It's a great translation too. If your'e an RPG freak--pick it up.

And the voice acting is actually halfway decent.

                          Re: Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

I don't know how I feel yet. I like that there are tons of items you can get and the item synthesis. The battle system looks like it could become really fun as I get farther in the game.

However, the game is just TOO animeish. Most games use an anime style, but this game has an anime attitude. While it's nice to see sprite based graphics these days, these are almost too cartoony and animed up. And the voice acting is so over bearing. A great example is in one of Popo's lectures. It's called "Great Growloons." However Popo is this cute little boy with the stereotypical androgynous anime little boy voice. And when he says the title, he yells "Great GRRROOOOWWWLLLOOOooOOonnNNNsss!!!!!" Ugh. I almost returned the game right there.

I don't know how I can explain it any better. It's like the Anime geeks from high-school decided to make a game. You know the ones. They're always talking about some high-school drama relationship Anime you've never heard of like it's the most amazing thing ever, while wearing a hat with cat ears and eating Pocky. Atelier Iris is their game.

                            Re: Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

So far it's pretty much not bad despite the shop synthesis has some issues especially the bakery shop trying to make bread so i can force for new recipes.

But for my my characters are in the 30's and i'm already in the Enternal Land of Mana. since there's no turning back now.

But it's great when the game says you'll probably make something unique with the items you mix up.

But then again some of the bosses are tough and the tutorials are hillarious.

                              BE ATELIER IRIS

LOVE ATELIER IRIS...i know i do.

Seriously, i love the battle system, the story, the gameplay, the voice acting is wonderful. I love how i'm 7 or 8 hours into the game, and still getting tutorials on how to do things.

Ugh... I still am undecided. I still think that Growlanser is the most overbearing with it's anime. But you know, that game was fun as hell. Not a whole lot of maitenence and a lot of fun.

Still undecided... Makes me wanna play Dark Cloud 2 for some reason. (the tutorials?)
