I wouldn't be surprised if they released FF12 this year. Or even crazier if they ported it to the PS3 as a launch title. That's not going to happen but what a gutsy marketing tactic if they did.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.
I'm a little late with some of these replies (Memorial Day and new job that starts in the morning), but here goes.
The game hand feeds you who is in your party, and also hand feeds you what job classes the characters were.
I believe member-swapping didn't happen in an FF game until FF6. And some of the story was based off of some of the characters having certain classes (Cecil's being the most important case).
You could get Cain up to level 10 for example, then he leaves and all of a sudden comes back at level 30 without you doing anything.
And I'd rather not have to spend a few hours leveling him up to stand a chance against the monsters 20 levels over him.
And finally, while graphics don't make the game, it was easy to tell the graphics and music were below SNES launch title capacity.
Eh, I figured it was because it was Square's first attempt at both an SNES RPG and an RPG with such a developed (for its time) story. Personally I think the music is pretty great. Sound effects are low quality of course.
No turn based battle system, can possibly make up for the games other craptastic features.
Well then what kept me playing through FFV for so long? ...Okay, I felt the story was decent.
and jesus did I hate the character designs in 8.
Okay, I'll bite. What was wrong with the character designs?
And JLa, I'm very curious. Aside from the realistic character models, what is it you like about FF8? You say everything aside from the easiness, but I'm curious about specifics. I assume the easiness comes from the unbalanced junctioning system and how battles are easier if you don't fight in random battles.
And just so I can say I stayed on topic, I really hope the long development time with FFXII means that they're trying real hard to make it good.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
I dunno about Jla, but I loved the world in FFVIII as well as the sheer comradery shown between the three war veterans in the flashback sequences (in fact the whole Laguna arc was great)...too bad the rest of the story wasn't handled as well.
But come on...big floating military academy...who WOULDN'T want to go to the garden?!
FINAL FANTASY GAIDEN: SEIFER'S FISHING ADVENTURE would've been great.
There was one scene/line of dialogue/idea in FFVIII that intrigued me. I think it's when Rinoa and Squall are up in Ragnarok and Squall says something to Rinoa to the effect of "Even if you are a witch, I'll defend you against the world."
How badass/bat**** insane is that?! I wish Square went with that angle. It would've been AWESOME. Squall vs. the world. All his friends would turn to enemies since they gotta kill the new witch, Rinoa. Imagine the dramatic possibilities. That'd make for a richer love story too.
BUT NO, GIVE ME TIME KOMPRESSION ANYDAY.
And now I got a terrible fear this long development time will ruin FFXII.
