Re: top 100 best-selling games of the past 12 months
Kind of disturbing to see such mediocre titles in the #11-#20 range.
Nice to see Brain Age up there and I bet Bioshock's inevitable sequel will be a top-5 hit. I'm a little disappointed, and very surprised, that no RPG placed top 40.
I don't know who's still buying Mario Party but I do think critics are WAY too harsh on it.
As the quality of games on the chart drops further and further, it's at least nice to see that no one genre is dominating.
I've got nothing to add about PSP and homebrew (I'm completely in the dark about the stuff) but I just wanted to voice my thoughts on seeing the top 100.
So those people who pretend homebrew isnt hurting the PSP at all need to SHUT THE **** UP AND BUY A GODDAMN GAME ALREADY. YOU ARE KILLING THE ****ING SYSTEM.
Meh, I don't really like portables that much. Even since the orginal GameBoy (even though I have one), they never really appealed to me The screen always feels too small, and I just like consoles better.
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions has been IN MY BLOOD.
So it's a shame more people aren't exposed to its wonderful new translation and addicting-it-hurts gameplay.
That's the only reason I have to actually be interested in a PSP, and honestly, I don't know anyone who has a PSP and is interested in that game. And since I already have a perfectly good copy of the original FFT, the only reason I have to get that game is for the multiplayer.
My guess is that the portable market is still pretty heavily skewed toward something the parents buy the kids to keep them quiet on long road trips or something. Ok, maybe not in the case of the DS, don't really know who's interested in that, but I think Sony is probably just marketing the PSP to the wrong market.

Same here. Last portable I owned was the Game Boy Color. I personally don't mind the small screen, but I like playing my games in long, infrequent spurts, and not worrying about batteries. Portables are conducive to neither. It's kind of a shame, too, because the PSP and DS both have some great games out right now.
