Yeah, those were the good old days. Best day ever when I went down to my basement and found a new SNES with Super Mario World sitting at the title screen waiting for me. My dad is sweet.

I remember my dad coming home from work, bringing in the SNES box and I was like "YAAAAAAAH! OHHH MY GOOOOOOD!!!" like that one N64 kid on YouTube.
A few minutes later, he brought in a Super Scope AND Final Fight and I was just rolling around in circles on the floor like a sea lion.
I was unaware sea lions rolled around on the floor in circles.
Apparently only sea lions named Misty I guess. It's a rare name for sea lions.
As for SMW it was a really good game, and having 96* always bothered me cause I was never sure if I had found all the exits, and there was always speculation about there being 100 of them. But it's not true, only 96, it's not a percentage. Hard to believe that was 14 years ago for me.
Still play it every now and then, but I like Mario 64 a little better. Probably because it was the first console game to show the promise of a 3D platformer. Well to me anyway. Plus side flips are awesome, along with wall kicks. Also punting goomba, that was also fun on Mario 64. If only it had Yoshi, well besides for that special thing.
But SMW is certainly one of the best 2D platformers ever.
