    Re: Hardest Fights?

I just remembered an old shooter that I thought was hard. Thunder Force IV. Final boss of that game that climbed the walls.

I'll say nothing more about it except for the fact that I threw my Genesis controller against the wall once and nearly broke it.

      Re: Hardest Fights?

The last boss of pengel is a pain, but I found that if I chose correctly the first time the battle was a piece of cake. I will admit that he's so random choosing correctly can be a fluke, but if you dupe him once you can beat him up pretty well.

I beat him with replicas of the Avatar and a dead guy in a chair (lovingly named Lyle) from Ultima 8, along with Amidamaru's ghost form from Shaman King.

Sadly, the only thing I can think of for hardest fights at the moment is from High Seas Havoc for Sega Genesis. Level 12's boss is a white wolf with psychic ability that throws rocks and such. I believe I had to fight him 30 times before I figured out an actual pattern. The final boss of the game is so damned hard I've never even beaten him.

I remember High Seas Havoc! My friend had it and I played it for a bit. Couldn't get past Level 2

Seraph Lamington from Disgaea. He only has 2 special attacks, but they can kill you pretty easily without using proper strategy. And if that wasn't enough he has some strong bodyguards.

            Re: Hardest Fights?

I made some pretty tough ones in Fatal Insanity as well.

Viktor and Zebas was the hardest fight because you had to level grind to something like level 15 or 16 to even have a chance, but even then Viktor only needed to hit you with his physical attack once to kill you. But all his special attacks only did 30-40 damage.

Then there's Metal Gear. You basically have to keep attacking it with normal attacks and pray you get an instant kill before he kills you.

I don't recommend playing Episode 3 (The only one currently on the site). Valk doesn't recommend it either. I might isolate the level with Metal Gear and another one related to it, spell check them, add some story, and release them as a separate game.

Trumpeteer from Nocturne suddenly comes to mind. The way that he'd either kill one of your guys or fully heal himself SUCKED.

God, how could I forget The Trumpeteer?! He was one of the hardest bosses in the game. He was increadibly cheap. Even cheaper once you can create him. 1 MP cost insta-death and heal anyone?

I never found Sephiroth as much of a fight....

Ultimate Weapon in FF7 was a force to be reckoned with, unless you know how to handle your materia, you'd be fighting him all day

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

Abigail. Final Fight. I'm stupid for not even mentioning this!

TOUGH mother****er. Kept grabbing me and throwing me in the air before I got the chance to even hit him with a few punches. It's why whenever I get defeated with Guy or Cody, I bring in Haggar to piledrive his ass and end the fight as quickly as possible, provided he doesn't go throat-grab, charge-happy, "AAAAARRGGGGHHHH!" on me.

                        Re: Hardest Fights?

                        Every second of FFXII.

And I'm only 7 hours in. How the **** am I supposed to survive five enemies insta-gibbing my party one by one?
Well, a good general rule is that everyone needs to invest in good armor, because no one is safe from enemy attacks. Also, the Party Leader (the one you control) needs to be your tank, because they will be subjected to the most attacks. The only exception to this is in boss battles, where you need to control your spellcaster/healer in order to make sure you don't, you know, die. Gambits DO help, even if yo insist on controlling everyone manually. At least set up and Ally HP<30% to Cura or Curaga, because otherwise the rank and file will slowly whittle down your tank's HP, and Bosses and Marks will just utterly destroy you.

I am coming for all of you!

                          Re: Hardest Fights?

I actually made my thief my party leader so that the gambit allowed him to steal automatically. But yeah, generally monsters target your party leader, and if there's any similar monsters in view of the battle, they'll join in. Take monsters on one-by-one if at all possible.

I had a support character equipped with the gambit Foe HP=100% to Steal do that automatically, and my tank just go in swinging... of course, to buck the trend, I made my tanks Ashe and Penelo, and my mages Balthier and Basche. Of course, the way the game's looking now, I'll be able to get everyone every license before I finish.

Well, the trouble with that setup is that you’re tapping into everyone’s weakest abilities, except for Ashe. Penelo’s magic is the best in the game, and Basch’s strength is really good. The trouble with bucking the trend in FFXII is that you’re not really changing people’s base stats.
