I find complaining about the difficulty of a RPG to be completely rediculous. Has anyone ever actually been challenged by RPGs before? Part of the reason why people play RPGs is because of the fact that they are less reliant on timing and reflex than other styles of video games, whether that aspect is appeals to people subconsciously or not. Even supposedly "more challenging" games, like the Shin Megami series, can easily be conquered by simply having more patience than with other RPGs, with a little extra power leveling here, or some extra time spent fusing demons there. If you fail to see no challenge exists in a RPG, which is basically a battle of attrition more than anything else, then you should find plenty of challenge in your day to day life operating with such little brain function.
Another thing that is tremendously annoying as well, is when people will complain about action-based RPGs, specifically stating "I'm soooo sick of mashing the 'x' button all the time!", because I really don't know how that is any different than keying the arrow buttons over to 'attack' or 'auto-battle' and then pressing 'x' over and over again. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me some kind of reasonable explanation for that. Otherwise, if you can't stand a little repetition, then maybe you should stop playing RPGs; or to that extent, end your entire endlessly repeating life.
Yeah okay, you don't like Kingdom Hearts, that's fine. Most 'hardcore gamers' will agree with you, automatically winning you your much needed approval points. However, I'd really like to know what your opinion is based on rational thinking rather than thoughtless nonsense. These arguments are lazy cop-outs. Maybe if people tried harder to communicate, then we could all enjoy improved entertainment experiences, rather than witness 'John Madden' football top sales charts and 'Epic Movie' top the box office, time and time again. When random rants pop up like this, I mostly feel indifferent, but sometimes it really makes me hate people's stupid idiot faces.
Thats a lot of ranting about a ranting thread
Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!
words like insipid and trite come to mind when thinking about why I didn't enjoy that series.
Also, I find your assertion that RPG's should be intrinsically easy to be kinda weak. When I'm fighting a boss I should have to be worried about dying, and have to actually utilize all the nifty abilities I'm given. If I can succeed by simply clicking attack over and over again it makes everything I've gained during the game entirely pointless, which in turn makes everything I've done somewhat pointless.
I'd argue that perhaps we could enjoy improved entertainment experiences, like more RPG's with interesting dynamic combat systems, if people would complain more that simply winning by rote is wholly unfullfilling.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."
(If they ever do make another installment, which I know they will, they should include different worlds. Maybe ones based off of Final Fantasy lineage?)
If you're expecting worlds directly from the FF series, it won't happen. The games are focused on disney stuff, and there's very few FF characters in the KH series anyway (just the ones by nomura with the exception of vivi). Hallow Bastion and Twilight Town are basically the FF worlds, despite having a disney type of look to them.
Well, the only bonus boss in the game was Sephiroth and I don't think there were any other secrets waiting for you other than ultimate weapons. So I could understand selling the game afterwards. Nothing more to do and no replay value what-so-ever.
