    How To Draw Well???

Alright so I used to draw all the time as a kid and I stopped for quite a few years...I was just wondering a few things.

1.Could anyone direct me to some websites that have quality tips and teaching for drawing.

2.Any advice from pavilionites on how to draw would be appreciated.

3.What inspires you how do you you come up with weird and interesting ideas for what you draw.

Thanks in advance I know that there are a lot of talented artists here.

Best advice to getting better at drawing is to keep drawing. Eventually you'll get better.

As far as I'm concerned, the most important thing to consider when making art is COMPOSITION, or simply making the most of the space you're given to present the work in a beautiful way. To me that's more important than style, subject matter, medium, intent...anything. Don't be afraid of the edge of the paper, go right off of it...just do it carefully, and with intent. If you need tips on good composition just ask, and you'll probably get some help.

As far as drawing is concerned, composition still reigns supreme, but pay close attention to your line quality. Vary the pressure when drawing your lines to infer shadow, perspective, and just to give the drawing some variety.

I find that if you wait until you're about 63, you will have stored talent for many years and can unleash in one large burst. So whatever you do, DO NOT draw.

Before I bought my tablet I hadn't drawn since high school. I think that really helped my get back into drawing.

I should really scan up the pages to Animal Force, it was a few pages of a comic Geno and I created back when we were in grade school. It’s the most hilarious but violent thing ever.

You really don't want to see anything I've drawn.

I recently did a sketch of godzilla and mothra attacking Hitler with a Borg cube and the enterprise duking it out in the background and superman flying backwards and a whole bunch of other stupid stuff.

It sounds funny in concept but I draw like a 8 year old so it just looks retarded. I do it to make Glooms laugh.

Drawing takes practice. Keep at it. Doesn't matter what you draw, just draw it.

Start loose, light, and big, then work your way into the details. Starting with the details makes your brain hurt, and is a very anal way of going about it. At least for me.

Correct your mistakes. Half the fun in drawing is going back and redoing it until it works.

Learn from masters. Look at their stuff and take note of their technique. If you see something you like, try to incorporate it into your own. Just straight copying other's work - like drawing Goku 70,000 times - while it is practice, won't get you too far.

I started in 6th grade, and it was all copies of DBZ or Megaman X, stuff I was interested in at the time. Eventually though, I broke away and tried to find my own style.

Now I'm taking art classes and drawing from real life models, and it's helping me exponentially.
                  ...and that's why.

Yeah, practice is key. Learning about anatomy is probably one of the best (and most difficult) aspects of drawing. It's an ongoing battle.

Keep a sketchpad. I sketch constantly in ballpoint pen using 3-5 subject spiral notebooks. It's not for everyone, but that's how I like to start roughing out pages or designs.

I try to keep working on stuff all the time. My inspiration comes from my weird interpretation of the world around me, and from my own imagination.

Keep at it. Don't expect instant results.

I use a pencil. And paper.

I think I spent the longest time trying to set a style for myself. That's a dumb approach. If you try and look for a style, you end up pigeonholing yourself. Try not to draw the same thing in the same way more than once. It should be like improvisation.

I remember I would copy from Evangelion mangas, trying to find what makes a good eye or what makes a good hand and trying to replicate every minute detail. But the fact is, eyes and hand looks different at different times and different angles. Even from the same angle. If you get caught up on that, you won't get anywhere.

Otherwise, listen to what Denethor says.

Everything said here is good advice.

Going on Den's loose and big approach (heh), look at things in basic shapes. Once you break up the world into geometric shapes you can easily put that **** on paper.

Now, using the Lombardo method, you learn to see everyday objects
as a simple grouping of geometrical shapes. Here, we see how twoconcentric circles, various trapezoids, ellipses, and yes! even a rrhombus! can create an adorable little bunny-rabbit. It's just that easy!

In order to be able to draw you MUST have an accurate understanding of the different flavours of quarks as well as how matter interacts at Planck length.
