    Abyss Magazine, Issue 1

(I was really bored, so I decided to make a topic covering games missing in action, and going through old, dead topics. Inspiration came from the MIA articles on IGN. So, without further ado, let's start.)

Welcome and Thank you for reading this edition of the Abyss Magazine!
    Issue 1
    AKA: The first issue
Tagline: No worries! Abyss covers the games you're already forgotten about!

Before we read this issue, let's hear what the editor has to say!

Editor: Glad to be here, you're a great crowd. Oops, wrong place,
wrong time. Hello. I go by the name of Editor. For those of you
who have been on the forums of any rpgmaker, you soon realize that
ideas come and go as quickly as a flowing river...Sometimes these
realizations appear as full, complete games but oftentimes
become casualities of war. Which war, you may ask? The constant
changing mindset of their creators, that war. And so, we look upon
these dropped games, see just what happened and if there's a
chance the dead may rise from the ashes.

    And, we hope you enjoy.

    Sundered Chronicles

    Original Link: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=645

    Short stats:
Made by Gulshog (Grey Owl Games)
    Platform: RPGM3

So, here we have an ambitious game that was made by a no-namer
that quickly vanished. In fact, perhaps the weight of the project
was too much for him, so the ideas he had are finished.

But I'm jumping ahead of myself. First off, who what when where why? (and maybe how)

Well, Gulshog was his name, and very little is really known about him.
There are only 32 posts left to his name, and hasn't made an appearence
since fall of 2005. The game he had in mind was called Sundered Chronicles,
and even this game has less information. Of course, When is 2005
and where is rpgmmag. I hope you already knew that last part.

So, what is Sundered Chronicles? Very little is known about it. In Gulshog's
offical topic (which can be easily viewed in the original link) there are very few
real facts to go on. What can be said is this: We have a contient called
Erodain, and a nomad called Grummel. That's about it. If we take a look
at his interests in the first post, he really dug fantasy books, and I'm
willing to bet he had high hopes of a LotR's type of story. Not too bad. So...

What happened?: Well, the last post Gulshog ever made was in his topic,
telling of his purchase of the RPG Maker 3, where he mentions that progress
is slow. Perhaps the project was far too big to handle for the inexperinced maker.
Perhaps he was far too busy on the manual that never materialized. One thing's
    for sure....we'll never find out.

Will the game ever come out?: I'm willing to bet there's a 98% chance the
game is as good as gone. It came and left, disappearing and fast as it
    appeared.

    Other notes:

    1. Yes, I realize I made a comment in the topic. Silly eh?
    2. He mentions the manual so often in his topic, yet a search
    of adobe.com yielded no answers.

    VERDICT: DEAD
There's no hope for this dead soldier. Move along.

    =========================
    Page 2:
    Mencara Revelle

    Original Topic: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=625

    Short stats:
    Made by Rhen2002
    Platform: RPGM1

So, here we have it. This game in particular has been running for almost
two years. The creator, Rhen2002, was going to make this his first rpgm game.
Mencara Revelle was the coolest looking and spookiest game back in 2005. It
was a promising survival/horror title that played nothing like a newbie
    effort.

And things certainly started off good. It kicked off with an announcement
    here: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...t=revelle&t=28
and the demo for this game has been lying around for years. Heck, the demo
itself had earned itself the Most Promising Demo Award for 2006. So, that only
    leaves one question...

    What happened?:
So, with a promising future some games can only wish for, what happened? On
    the Pavilion: http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/...hlight=mencara,
a post on May 9th revealed that a memory card deletion may have set
Mencara Revelle back several steps. And on the same post it's noted that
re-workings of other games are in progress.

Rhen2002 couldn't be contacted in time for this writing, but there are many
possible setbacks. Perhaps Mencara, like other games made by Rhen2002, were
in the process of re-working. Maybe the deletion of the game was enough to crush
motivation. All that's really known is that there hasn't been any news on MR since
    Rhen's last post October.

Will the game ever come out?: It's really difficult to say at this point.

    Other notes:

    1. MR has both a demo and a preview avaliable on the rpgmmag.

    VERDICT: MISSING IN ACTION
Hopefully we'll get some news about it.

    ==========================
    Page 3:
    Omega Crisis

    Original Topic: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...sis+omga&t=504

    Short stats:
    Made by Feros/OW
    Platform: RPGM3

What is it?: Everyone knows Feros/OW. That much is a given. But perhaps what he's tried
to make as far as rpgs go hasn't quite seen enough spotlight to really get recognized.
And sure, I bet if you've been around the forums for long you might have caught a
glimpse of the word Omega Crisis. But what does it really mean? That's what I'm here to
tell you, and much to my surprise this dead beast has quite a bit of history to it.

And Omega Crisis isn't one game: it's three! Check the original link for the rundown, or
continue reading. The games went something like this...
    1. Predule to Chaos
    2. Dawn of Oblivion
    3. Demise of Faith
So, it's apparent we're looking at a fleshed out series here. But what kind of game
is Omega Crisis, really? I present my second piece of evidence, the second link!

    http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/...t=omega+crisis

And, upon further inspection, we get an idea of what we're looking at. Though complicated,
I'll try and translate the articles into easier-to-understand language. So basically,
there are nine towers around an island that guard, provide power, and ultimately
protect some kind of 'Omega Gate'. Turns out, a bad guy was beaten in a final battle
and locked in the Gate, whilst extracting power from him and trying to learn
how to utilize this power. Did I mention that it's nearly impossible to deactivate
the Gate without setting off one big ass N-bomb? Hey, every good game needs explosions.

    What happened?: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3905
The fact is that the project may have been too large a scope to handle.
And Omega Crisis was cancelled to make way for bigger and better things, as
Feros is working on a new project called HT? Interested?
    http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...e+havoc&t=3941

Will it ever come out?: Given the fact we had bits and pieces of news and no
real demo of anything, I'd say the chances of it actually coming out are slim.
And if the series continues, we won't see it anything soon.

    Other notes:

    1. While there was no offical demo, there was a teaser movie. Check this link to view:
    http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...s+omega&t=1738

    VERDICT: DEAD IN THE WATER
Bits and pieces don't cut it.

    ===========================
    Page 4:
    A Remedy

    Original topic: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...=remedy&t=2881

    Short stats:
    Made by Phoenix
    Platform: RPGM3

So, what have we here? Another game from the abyss, and another saga-wannabe
series gone sour. But hey, something good must have come of this, right? Right?

Well, at least we have some sort of story to go on. Basically Nation A attacks
Nation B, and since B is useless Nation C comes to B's rescue. Strange thing is,
and here's where things actually get interesting, we have no idea why Nation A
attacked B. But since the title has a title like "A Remedy", you'd guess it has
something to do with a disease or cure. And you'd be right.
    http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...=remedy&t=2098
So, we know now there's a big disease, but how to we tie the story together?
    Phoenix kindly provides the answer.
    http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/...ead.php?t=7362
So, there's a terrible disease that breaks out and wipes out most of humanity.
Not too bad for a backstory, but little is known about the actual plot,
    which leads us to...

What happened?: In late 2006, news on the title came to a halt. While the
member(Phoenix) is still active, we haven't heard a peep about the game for awhile.

Will it ever come out?: My guess is that it's unlikely we'll hear from the game
The title has promise though, so hopefully we'll get surprised.

    Other notes:
1: There is a demo avaliable on the mag to download.

    VERDICT: MOSTLY DEAD
Hope there's something we can salvage out of it.

    =============================
    Page 5:
    Four Elements

    Original Topic: http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewto...ts+four&t=2101

    Short stats:
    Made by Genji
    Platform: RPGM1

Originally called Matt's Adventure, the title basically gives it away what we're looking
at. It's the same cliche storyline we've heard about four elements and four kingdoms, and
four elements. As if that wasn't enough, the story sounds an awful lot like Avatar. Good
if you're a fan of the series, but for everyone else it might be a good thing it never came
    out.

What happened?: We haven't gotten any offical word on the title since last year. When I
contacted Genji, the creator, he told me the game is suspended until he has time to work on
it. Maybe this is one title we will see come out. After a year hiatus though, it's pretty
    doubtful.

Will it ever come out?: Despite Genji's offical word, I have a feeling we may not see
the title in it's fullness. Although I may be wrong. Surprise me Genji.

    VERDICT: DEAD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
    Move along....

I have no idea what this is. Ask Rodak, he made it

    And here's an interesting one...

This was one of the more appropiate pictures I could have put up, and
this one comes from jerbils, on RPGM XP.

    Cool, no?

I liked it! Entertaining and informative. Not being a Magonian I only knew of Mencara. Maybe once you get more Pav time under your belt you can write one about my never made games.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Haha, yeah That's a really good summary. I'd say it's mostly dead as well, because I just can't find the time to work on it. I'd like to imagine it'ss get resurrected sometime though cause I had big plans for it.
