    The Chosen Ones (New Video)

This is the video I made recently with my friend Daniel Bonnett and I called The Chosen Ones.

It's about a pre-apocalyptic world where two super-companies are struggling for control of it so they use the powers of two supernatural men to try and gain control of an amulet that is said to give the wearer control of the universe.

The two men travel to the ranch where the amulet is located and thus the epic battle between them begins to seal the fate of this earth.

This isn't quite a full movie, moreover imagine it as the final battle in a movie. I made this to stretch my special effects muscle and see what I could come up with on Adobe Premiere for future use and practice.

Let me know what you think.

    pre-apocalyptic
Wait... Before an apocalypse? It sounds more post-apocalyptic to me.

    But what do I know.

EDIT: watched the video, kinda makes sence why you call it pre-apocalyptic...

I'm not gonna lie to you, I laughed through the whole thing. The propane tank explosion with the black background was hilarious. It was nicely done movie, don't take it the wrong way. Somehow throwing a foam board at the guy's stomach made him dazed, the repeating sounds when they did the quick punching made me, and the "I can't cross rivers!" made me giggle. Oh, lightning bolts repelled by a stick! Classic.

Don't get me wrong, it was a nice film. Mark it up as a comedy and it would be gold. I liked the film in general (the ending made me confused which I guess is the point) not insulting it at all. It just made me giggle.

Well, those are all just for lack of better effects. Damn explosion gif didn't render properly, still trying to figure out why not.

Yeah, but we took seriously things that are clearly fake, but not in the comedic sense. Just the fact that that's all we have to go by.

Either way, I don't care what you thought about it. As long as it provoked some sort of reaction and you liked it, you could have cried through the whole thing for all I care.

The cliches are a big part too. I love cliches.

I meant I don't care if it made you laugh or you took it seriously, as long as you liked it.

          I was happy.

I really liked it. I liked the beginning but it was kinda repetitive because it was almost the same for both guys. Might be better to intercut them together leading up to where they meet, builds more tension that way. The fighting and effects were pretty cool, especially for something put together by two guys for fun. I read the comments and seemed like a lot of people didn't get the ending. Frances disguised himself as Barrett right? I guess to get into his HQ and screw things up. I couldn't keep track of which worked for the evil corp. and which worked for... the other evil corp. Was either of them a good guy or was the world pretty much screwed either way?

I just watched it. It was cool. Interesting to see some amateur film making right here at the Pav. I don't mean amateur as a negative comment, either. I enjoyed it.

              My favorite parts were

-the super-fast running through the forest scenes
-hitting the red energy balls with a huge stick.
-the Matrix like effect you tried with the one dodging scene.

                hey.

your editting is getting MUCH better. there were very few lingering shots which was nice. you still need to work on screen direction at times (the running through the woods scene in the beginning comes to mind).

the main thing you need to focus on now is how to shoot and edit a dialougue scene. it was really poor. look up the difference between SOFT CUTS and HARD CUTS and when to use them. you also don't need to keep switching camera angles during a dialogue scene unless it's motivated.

are you the older kid or the younger one? are you guys brothers or friends?

oh and that explosion. you've gotta be able to use an alpha matte or something to get rid of the black background.

are you going to go to film school?

                keep it up, man.

I liked it. Especially the RPG Maker punching sounds.

Re: The Chosen Ones (New Video)

Man, haven't checked this topic in a while. I was waiting for highwind to start ragging my ass. Haha.

Well, yes I do struggle most with dialogue scenes and I know you're trying to help me, but I really have no one at all who has any kind of background in film at all to teach or help me. Obviously, I'm willing to learn.

I'm the older looking one; the blond guy is actually older than I am, but we're both 16, sophomores in High School. Even though I look much older. We are good friends. I had great interest in film since I was like 6 years old and once I learned how to edit using the computer we got together and started making movies just in our spare time.

Haha, that damn explosion. Im using Premiere Pro 1.5 and in the preview window it shows that the black was filtered out, because it usually filters out the background on gifs. But for some reason when it rendered it leaves it in. And I don't know how to stop it from doing that.

I would like to go to film school, yes. It just depends on which school and where and obviously which one I can get into.

Thanks a bunch to everyone's comments, but highwind's especially. Im glad that you take the time to help me out with this stuff.

Btw, I dont know if you're interested but I do have another short movie up, as seen by the sig change. There's a topic in here somewhere about it.
