    TMNT - the new movie

    http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/tee...tninjaturtles/

    Teaser.

It may be awful. It may be great. But that's some fine animation. Maybe. It's so vague who's to say (IT WILL PROBABLY SUCK). But worth a look!

        WHEN WILL THEY LEARN?

The live action TMNT movies from the early 90's were by far the best "superhero" movies I've ever seen. Their body suits were (in my opinion) much better than any CG that is out there now. Yes, better even than Spiderman 3. They had a full range of motion, and weren't plagued with the awkwardness of animation that couldn't normally happen, so looks weird anyway. Sure it's good (great) animation, but it's still animation. I want a real superhero for once!

Think I'll give it a shot, for nostalgia-sake.
There's nothing wrong with CG in live-movies. It's absolutely better than puppets. Imagine if Golum or those Mumakills in LOTR were all animatronics or even worse: jittery stop-motion.

The 8 year old in me just ****** his pants.

The live action movies were excellent, but this is a rare case where CGI doesn't bother me. Yet. I dunno.

              Damn kids.

To be honest. (though I shouldn't be.) I have high hopes for this movie.

The "dirty" city looks so clean!!! Smurf already covered the rest. But that's not really animation. It's CG. Traditional animation > CG.

                  Other than that... pretty cool.

Do you honestly believe that traditional animation is the same as CG?

Of course not. But you said it's not animation. Maybe I'm just being picky, and I love both CG & hand drawn animation, and while I do believe there should be more hand drawn animation feature movies produced in America, being a 3D character animator is my job.

Sorry, but CG animation is not what I consider to be true animation, due to heavy use of mocap and other things that don't rely on the artist's abilities to capture movement. I consider the two to be completely different animals. Traditional animation requires skills and techniques that are not used with CG animation.

I'd be okay with it if it was referred to as CG animation, but everyone lumps it into the same group, when the two are like apples and oranges. That's what bothers me.

Yeah, because CG animation doesn't take talent.
