I don't get why its so popular.

Well, first off, it's pretty groundbreaking. No one else was doing split-screen stuff on TV anymore. Also, no one was doing serialized dramas during prime time. Now, in the wake of 24, look at all the serialized dramas like Lost that have come out. 24 opened a lot of new doors for what was acceptable on network TV. Granted, season 4 was kind of shady, but they got back on track with season 5. That's what I think anyway.

To address the original question, to my understanding, the emote is for blank unexpressive and rather unintelligent looking expressions like the "uh oh, hot dog!" look on her face. And/or about the fact that she has a severely limited acting range. I'm unsure I was only an observer of the running gag not a participant.

It would be preferable if Kim Bauer ALWAYS came like this: duct-taped and silent. You're better seen and not heard, b****.

But then she couldn't use her mouth to su-- say things.

Speaking of emotes. I wish this was one . There's not enough Sir Ian Magneto in drag around here.

Kinda like every female character on 24. I finished season one, BTW. It was pretty ****ing great! Gonna Netflix season 2 soon.

Law & Order and its various spawn may be addicting but they're bland and/or dull compared to the masculine, erotic adventures of Jack Bauer, David Palmer, Tony Almeida and George Mason!

I watch L&O mostly SVU but they tick me off. How many times can a cop be wrong on a single case and still manage to think he's completely right with his next baseless theory. They spend 3/4 of every episode badgering innocent people because they don't let the investigation dictate the suspects rather than just jumping to conclusions.
