    Pentagon considers homosexuality a mental disorder


    Wow... just, wow... right up there with alchohlism and personality disorders, eh? So unless this gives me the greenlight to go balistic, this is rediculous.

    Well, I mean, I always considered it be a mental something, like being schizophrenic.

      Yeah, always seemed like a mental issue in some form. If it weren't wouldn't people who tried to stop being gay be able to stop being gay? I mean, it's not like a straight person just wakes up one morning and decides "You know, I think I'm gonna start preferring the same sex as myself." My best guess is it's sorta like with people who feel they were born the wrong gender. Maybe not the same case, but similar.

        Apparrantly, even liking sports like soccer is a mental disorder. In fact having an opinion or preference in anything is in fact, a mental disorder. We are all F'd in the H.

              Honestly, I think their is a mental aspect to it, but as Draygone pointed out, that everything has some mentality to it. There is more to it than what is in your head.

                It is not a mental disorder.

                I was about 8 years old when i knew i was gay. I spent almost 14 years trying not to be gay, used religion and everything to try and make sure i wouldnt end up gay...nothing helped.

                Its physical, its psychological, and yeah, its mental too, but it is NOT A DISEASE THAT CAN BE CURED!

                Trust me, i tried looking for a "cure" for many years, and there isnt one. And (no offense to the ladies here), even if i had tried getting past first base with this girl i knew (she wanted to go all the way), i would have puked before getting to home, because i was disgusted (again, i really dont mean any offense).

                There are alot of things to it, BUT ITS NOT A DISEASE!

                  Yeah, calling it a "disease" is pretty harsh.

                    Didn't they just undeclare it a mental disorder in the 80's? They're going back to that now? Next they'll officially declare the earth is flat again.

                    EDIT: Oh, having read the article I see they're basically saying there's still some rules left over from when it was considered a mental disorder. It doesn't really matter when it comes to the military anyway since it's against the rules regardless of the cause of it.

                        Of course it's not a "disease". Diseases and disorders are very different.

                        Your brain prefers members of your own sex versus the opposite. If this isn't a mental disorder, then what is it?

                        None of this is to be taken negatively, it just makes sense.

                        Oh, and it shouldn't be a factor for military issues. Even though I don't see a point in defending a country in which 90% of its citizens believe in their Christian God, and most of them hate you because you're gay.

                            I had no idea that this board had openly gay people...(Not to affend anyone.)

                            But I really hate the U.S. Government, they have a mental disorder.
